True formal skirts, like the Olympia [shown above] I had on exhibit at the University of Indiana's Mathers Museum show last year, assume that the gentleman will be wearing a jacket to the affair in question. That's a darn good looking skirt there, Dan! Out of curiosity, what heights are the mannequ...

I'd love to try wearing shorter skirts. My waistline--mid knee length is about the same as yours. I made an 18" skirt (about 110" hem circumference), and when I wear it, I feel like naked. I worry that the slightest move will expose "what's under". A hundred and ten inches? That...

Of skirts and the measurement of same

When I speak of a skirt length I refer to the length from the waistband to the hem. That's the standard measurement. I wear skirts at my natural waist, which is basically at the navel. Thus waist-to-top-of-kneecap is 24 inches. I tend to wear mine closer to my hips, about 2 inches (5.02 cm) below m...

Woah...All this feedback is negative! Do either of you get to wear at work? The actual observation was by a colleague, not the boss. Maybe I should clarify my position a wee bit. One of the vexing problems that's going on in many corporate circles in the US of A today is the continual erosion of pr...

A big "thumbs up"!

I most heartily second that! Even though I'm an ocean (OK, a "pond" :) ) away, I'm watching this with quite some interest, and am hoping for a good and just outcome.

A cooler head than mine....

I arrived in the office on Monday to the following question from my good-humoured and very blunt boss: "Do you dress as a woman?". He explained that a colleague had noticed me out and about el-skirto with a bunch of women (relatives as it happens). You have a somewhat cooler head than min...

Of pockets and what goes in them

Pockets on a skirt are a "nice to have" for me, but certainly not a show-stopper if I really happen to like a particular skirt. I've mentioned this before, but it may near repeating: "One of the big benefits I got out of weaaring skirts was that I learned to travel lighter." I no...

[...] I'll add that modesty goes out the window when trying to get up after sitting cross legged on the floor in a dress. That's easily countered if you're wearing a long skirt or dress. If the garment is arranged properly, and you can manage a "vertical lift", then the skirt will fall qu...

[...]I do not [want] my managers to go into Google and put out this thread  Welcome to the "modern world". I'm sure my presence here will be used against me in employment matters in the future as well. But, such is life I guess.... Good and decent tools can be, and are, used for good...

Of short skirts and teenagers

A fear of mine is some young girl gets carried away and thinks she sees something she does not. As someone posted earlier if such a claim is made a guy is automatically guilty. I always wear dark underwear under the skirt. The stiff denim can tend to show a little more than lighter material or a pl...

Welcome aboard USNguy. I'm glad you find this little corner of the world an interesting and inviting place; I think you'll find you've run into an interesting cast of characters. Thanks for the interesting read with that link. I'll second Rogon's concern about the repeated use of the term "cros...

Spot on!

Here is what you would be, according to the Urban Dictionary: That is an absolutely perfect definition of the term -- and the first time I've seen it put so elegantly. I, too, am sorry for your distress. Cams -- It's needless and pointless. One day the time will come when men, as well as women, wil...

Then quite clearly you're not the "average calibre teenager". :D

My theory :) is that the absence or near-absence of pockets in women's clothes is an evil conspiracy to oppress women -- specifically, to reduce their independence -- by not allowing them to carry the necessary things of life (keys, money, plastic, etc.) conveniently upon their person. (Long, long ...
