Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
Today I went no where outside, tomorrow night I'm going to go play Bingo in a different kind of skirted outfit, I have 2 "prairie slips" which is a slip that fits somewhere between a straight nylon slip and a full slip, it gives body to the skirt for contra or square dancing, I don't dance but 2 were left here when Judy left and I thought I'd try something different to Bingo and see what the old ladies say. They've been supportive so far but have never seen me in a skirt that has anything "seeable" under it. We'll see, I doubt I'll get anything but support tho, this is the locals time of year still, the only time I get unfriendly comments about my skirts is in the winter when there are tourists here.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
Went to Bingo sunday night wearing something new for me. Rooting thru boxed stuff I had left from Judy last week I came on 2 prairie slips, a black one and a red one. Prairie slips are like what might be called "limp petticoats" they are for contra dancing or giving body to an A-line, peasant or full skirts. I thought I might wear one to Bingo last night to see if I got any negative responses to a filled out skirt or one you could see "something" under it when I moved or sat. I wore the black one with a white A-line twill skirt I have and was somewhat on edge once I walked in and got sat in my seat. Several looks I got but no comments for a while. About 10 minutes before the Bingo started a lady I have been quite friendly with walked over and asked me to stand up and turn around for her. I did, and she said "I mean spin around more quickly, I want to see what you're wearing under your skirt". Ooooookkk, I said, and did what she asked me to. She gushed "Ohh, I've not seen anyone wearing a petticoat since I was young". To which I responded, "It's not a petticoat, it's a prairie slip" She was not to be put off though, and responded with, "Sure looks like a petticoat to me, I used to wear several of them with my poodle skirt when I was in college" I had her there. "Why don't you still wear skirts? I've never seen you in anything but pants. I only started wearing skirts because women seem to have given up wearing them and they are so much more comfortable than trousers to me" She said, well I can see that, your um, plumbing would fit better in a skirt than trousers, I don't know why more men than you and the Jamaican that hangs out by the supermarket don't wear skirts, Ooops, they're starting the Bingo, we better get ready, very nice outfit you have tonight, Skip, Good luck!"
I was amazed she was the only one to say anything about my black prairie slip. It felt great under my skirt all night, I think I'll continue wearing it and the red one.

Saturday night saw me in a pub in Sheffield wearing dark blue tee shirt, my kilt with sporran, ankle socks (Forgot to pack my kilt hose) and black shoes, usual few comments, there was a great blues band playing and excellent real ale so I had a brilliant night. Now getting into three months of mental torture on the South coast.

Why the torture? There are some great beers in the South to numb the pain...Big and Bashful wrote:Now getting into three months of mental torture on the South coast.
Where will you be? I may know some good pubs

Have fun,
Ian.
PS To stay on topic; stone coloured cargo skirt (see my pics in the forum), black v neck t shirt and flat strappy sandals. No reaction in the local Tesco store while I did the weekly shop.

I am staying in Fareham, just had an Italian meal in Ask, wonderful food and nice friendly service. I am impressed. With people from work so black jeans worn. Can't believe the pubs round here have good real ale at 1.90 to 2.10 UKP for a pint. Smart!Milfmog wrote:Why the torture? Fareham, near Southampton? Now there's a coincidence - the head office of the company I work for is there. Not that I've ever visited it. I'm with the South African division.

That sounds like the only torture will be going home again and having to pay more normal prices for beer again.Big and Bashful wrote:I am staying in Fareham, just had an Italian meal in Ask, wonderful food and nice friendly service. Yesterday I went to the gardens at Stourhead in Wiltshire. I wore a calf length denim skirt, walking boots & socks and nude tights, t-shirt and a two sweatshirts because of the cold wind. I had a meal in the restaurant followed by a 6 mile walk and returned to the restaurant for a pot of tea and cake.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
Just got back from one of our hotels that caters to locals on week days in the summer. Was swimming in their pool for the last couple of hours. I'm was wearing swim trunks under a terrycloth skirt I sewed to wear over a wet swim suit and drive in. Switched to a khaki mid calf twill straight skirt, sleeveless extra long T-shirt and brown leather loafers.
This may not be summer where you all are, but summer here lasts from March 15 to November 1st. with some summery days during winter. There is no spring or fall here.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
my outfit at work friday...
new black sneaker boots (come up to just above the calf)
leopard tights with grey legwarmers just peaking over the boot-tops
dark denim mini-skirt (for me) about 4" above the knees
black sparkley hooded, zippered halter (looks like a sweatshirt)
grey flannel "big shirt" over the halter
denim jacket
my acrylic nails, as usual, in a french manicure.
i was feeling squirrelly, and dressed WAY more outlandish than usual.
went over quite well, and i got several compliments from female co-
workers.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
I'm not sure if it was "out and about", but I was staying over with friends last night. This morning I came down the stairs for breakfast wearing an upper calf length denim skirt with front split, brown and pink striped polo shirt and brown semi-opaque hosiery (30 denier). Both hubby & wife have seen me in a skirt before; indeed, I got HIM into a skirt with the full approval of his wife! Open minded, both of them. My female friend commented that I look very natural in a skirt, and that for her, what I was wearing looked "right" on me; she had not noticed at first. That's the sort of comments I like!
