Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
I spent an hour and a quarter hiking in the forest today in my 46 cm long Bear Kilt (yes, traditionalists, I know that's short, but it was hot, and I wear it lower on the hips than a usual kilt). Met a couple of other hikers; no comments at all. The fellow with whom I was hiking, who'd not seen me in a kilt before, posed The Obligatory Question, which I answered truthfully. I couldn't help but notice that he (wearing long trousers) was sweating and I was not. But then he was less bothered by the wee beasties--still, I'll opt for the breeze.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
Went out for a stroll with my Beloved last night, attired as per photo. When we passed one campsite we were hailed "Hey do you want a package of hot dogs?"
It seems that the campers in that site were from out of town and that on the morrow they would be flying home, so they were anxious to get rid of all the uneaten items that they wouldn't take on the plane with them. We got weiners, a quarter-lb of butter, even some new-bought cookware. (Their style is to fly to the camp destination, in this case Washington, from their home in Tennessee, and they buy various cheap-but-bulky items like cookware on site, rather than bringing them with them.)
No comment was made about the skirt - nor the dangly disco-ball-sparkle earring. The wife clearly noticed it, at least after a few minutes of conversation, because I could see her looking and taking it in. The husband, attired in hunter's camouflage vest and ball cap, regaled me with his tales of Halibut fishing in Homer AK, but said nary a word about my skirt.
Just one more non-event!

Just came back from the farm, wearing my bluish-purple Columbia waterskirt, white pocket T shirt, Columbia neoprene sandals, ankle chain. And my legs need shaving.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
In the case of Columbia sportswear, it is simply an outdoor styled skirt, not quite knee length on me, made of a quick-drying nylon fabric with smallish cargo-type pockets with velcro closures and two front "hands" pockets with nylon mesh interiors. I guess it is supposed to be a sport styled skirt that can be gotten wet without absorbing a lot of water and then redried while being worn. Never been in the water with it but worked well in the rain. I think they call the current version a "Watergirl skirt".
I think you've got me bettered in the hair-growing catergory, Carl.

Like most sport fashion companies Columbia only keeps styles around seasonally and I couldn't find one on the web. Because my stuff most always comes off sale racks, I don't know how many seasons old the style is, but probably several. Once I figure out how to change image size on my camera and then get inspired to do so, I'll post some photos to the Cafe.

Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
when I wore 90 deiner black opaque tights, black soft wool polo jumper, purple cord mini skirt and black suede boots (flat heel) and black jacket and then went out for short walk about 30-35 mins and then noticed 2 cops in BMW car passed me and then turned round and stop and asked me where im going - I told them i just having wee walk for just 30-35 mins as they already seem me in mini skirt but didnt say anything as they seem ok - just checking... and then keep walking on way home as they just drove away.. I didnt know that cops were turned round and stop and asking me... so just wear skirt as it normal clothes, you can go out anywhere you like
Re: What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
For the first time in a long time I got ready in the morning for the day by taking every thing off, and sliding into a spandex full body catsuit, zipped up the back zipper, put on black half calf high boots, and to keep an athletic look I wore a navy sweat jacket, and same color fanny pack slung over the frontal area.
It at first felt uncomfortable to be wearing such after such a long time, but after we went to the grocery store to get foodstuffs for our day's activities, I just "dropped" back into my old self. It felt great when striding in the aisles of the store looking for my part of the purchase, and then following the checkout felt the heat of the sun on my chest and shoulders. The feeling under lycra compared to under say cotton, or denim, or other "standard" materials is completely different. Hard to describe.
This was a new suit, worn in house once or twice. My friend noticed it was one she had not seen before, and asked how it wore, to which I said it felt nice to wear, a little loose in the small of the back.
I wish she would wear hers instead of the baggy and boring clothing she wears. But each to their own.

Well, I just went out to get Lotto tickets. I was wearing a yellow open collar,
button front shirt, straight knee-length stretch denum skirt with 6 inch side slits,
over-the-calf support hose and sandles. My 'sporran' ( belt-bag ) was hung from
my belt. I had to stand in line for a few minutes and
NO ONE PAID ANY ATTENTION TO WHAT I WAS WEARING!
What a joy!

BTW-We may be getting 2"-5" of rain tomorrow with winds approx 25-40MPH,
with gusts. The effects of Hurricane Ike and we're 300+ miles from the Gulf Coast.
( It's 375-400 miles if you're driving. )
