thank you, sapphire. the cane is visually very striking. silvertone wolf's head handle and matte black shaft. the blade is about 18" long (more than a match for anything aside from a firearm.
my all-time favorite weapon is not catalogued as being a weapon. the kubotan is a short baton used as a striking point.
mine is hand cut from a 3/4" oak dowel rod, about 6" long and painted black.
hitting a person on a bony point will likely break the bone, and needs NO training on how to use it. simply holding it in your hand makes it's use obvious. it focuses all the power of your arm and fist into an area the size of a coin. VERY powerful.
look for them on ebay. i looked at the basic design and made my own. it took 10 minutes with a saw and a dremel tool.

I am very glad that I live in the UK where gun carrying is against the law and you can walk around without the fear of being shot by a villain or someone carrying a gun purely for protection. I know there is a very small minority (lots of them recent immigrants from eastern Europe) in this country that do go around tooled up but fortunatley they have kept away from where I have been. I used to work in the East End of London and during the early mornings and late evenings i used to walk through the back streets of Whitechapel during the Cray Twins era and still never encountered any violence.

I agree, and the best defence is distance. Anybody with any unbalanced sick mind will stay dangerous even if you talk to him nicely. I assume In most attacks, there is no tome for the attacked to prepare and defend. You get hit before you know what happend. Only in some cases when you may get chased from a distance, then stopping, aiming and shooting to kill may be the only real defenceknickerless wrote:I am very glad that I live in the UK where gun carrying is against the law and you can walk around without the fear of being shot by a villain or someone carrying a gun purely for protection. That is why I say only great distance may help.
Just hope we are never put in such a situation.
And yes, there are ever increasing numbers of people with guns / knives here in the Netherlands but still generally, you are pretty safe on the street, no wild west, where everybody has a loaded gun in their jacket, bag or glove box. Villians are prone to use weapons, but having the general public pretty well weapon free really helps enormously to prevent unintended heat of the moment shootings / stabbings and accidents.

Re: violence
There's no "wild west" even here in the US which manages to lay claim to having one of the world's most heavily-armed civilian populations. Sure, gun crime gets a lot of press, but the reality is that if one uses his wits he's highly likely to remain perfectly safe.[T]here are ever increasing numbers of people with guns / knives here in the Netherlands but still generally, you are pretty safe on the street, no wild west, where everybody has a loaded gun in their jacket, bag or glove box.
Mod hat on.
This thread is veering dangerously off-course for a forum that's centered on fashion. Generally speaking, weaponry isn't fashion-related, and tends to disturb those who aren't used to it. So, I'm just asking folks to tap the brakes a little bit on this one. Thanks.

That was uncalled for. You are one of the first to squeal when a thread is locked, Carl has asked people to stay on topic, no more.
Speaking personally, I was starting to find this thread a bit like a bunch of kids arguing in the playground that "My dad's tougher than your Dad". Can we leave the testosterone overdose and Hollywood bad ass attitudes where they belong?
The most valuable "weapon" is issued free to all humans, it is (generally) carried between the ears and used properly violence is avoided along with all its' consequences, both for those directly involved and for others around them. Of course if you don't see the violence coming you will not be able to avoid it, but then a weapon would be of no value either...
Have fun folks,
Ian.
Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

A kilt, as opposed to the usual ducking-'n'-diving 'street cred' jeans, is usually considered (in theory, at least
) to be of a person who has a much bolder attitude. Like one of those lizards that flares up its gills to twice the size of its head if threatened, the undivided sheer expanse of frontage material of a kilt can be intimidating, hopefully enough to disperse any thoughts of provoking its wearer. Place a couple of rough exposed hairy knees under it, however freezing the temperature, and you have someone who looks like he isn't going to suffer fools easily. Basically, and because of the rarity of the beast, a man in a kilt should appear to be very much an unknown quantity to any would-be terroriser, which is how it should be.
As for carrying a weapon, I don't know how gun manufacturers can sleep at night, knowing that somewhere in the world one of their products is being used to steal by force someone elses possessions or, even worse, to casually snuff out someone's life with the simple squeeze of a trigger. It's a thought which continues to absolutely and totally sicken me.
Violence and crime does unfortunately go hand in hand with some fashion, but thankfully this forum is not about hoodies, and how to get the 'best' use out of them. Stick the louts in a skirt and see how they get on.
