Shame! You could have asked both to stand down and get them to ask (beg, even) that other chappie (the 'stand-in', whose name I cannot remember) whose being doing far better in Parliament, than either of them can (& probably will) do! They've certainly done a lot of damage to LibDem credibility in a very short time, especially amongst the older potential voter. Oops, forgot! We're not supposed to talk politics here, are we? Good job it's LibDems, then!

Yeah Vince Cable is doing a great job 'Gordon Brown from Stalin to Mr Bean' as he said today at PMQs & when he snubbed the Suadis. Shame he didn't put his name forward to stand for leader

I think he was put off by the aggresive 'age-ism' within the LibDem party. The only folk I've ever heard express any support for them have been among the very young (well, under 21!) or very naive (is that the same thing?). Until Mr Cable arrived on the scene, that is. His Brown analogy was quite brilliant!

Well, two nice """Ladies""", at least they are very happy at what they are doing, and quite nicely done, if I may say so. This is not men in skirts, but still they are men wearing skirts / dresses, and enjoying the experience. They certainly would not have so much fun wearing any pants combination.

At least they show how men can wear skirts and dresses very well.

PS if I wanted to enjoy a night out, in company, (And nothing more!) I wouldn't mind having one of them or both accompany me. Being surrounded by happy people, be it male or female is very pleasant and has a very positive effect on you.
A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.

Ziggy, here is an update on Peter Garrett. Our new P.M. tossed a few of the old shadow ministers onto the back bench but, Peter G. held onto the environment portfolio but had water and climate change removed and given to another ministry.

Howard is still caretaker P.M., but Rudd does intend to immediately sign up to the Kyoto Protocol after he and his Gov't is sworn in next week some time. I think he is going for a Blair style "New Labor" and is already putting some unions offside.

I was hoping for Malcolm Turnbull (Q.C.) to take on the Liberal leadership, however, Dr. Brendan Nelson was elected- another old style conservative- as the party was alarmed that Turnbull was going to make the apology to the Aboriginals that Howard refused to do, plus other "liberal" remarks. I think the've shot themselves in the foot!

Its really odd that the Liberal Party in Australia is conservative

Be even more odd for Americans who think liberalism is left wing

It wasn't always so extreme as it has got now. When Robert Menzies, from a conservative party and Joe Lyons from Labor, founded the Liberal party it was as a centre party and an alternative to the two extremes that had formed pre-war. (My late father was in the New Guard, a right wing paramilitary grouping with links to the top brass in the army. The New Guard died with the actions of Captain De Groot who, on horseback, charged in and cut the ribbon on the Harbour Bridge opening before Jack Lang)

It seems we need a new centre party, and, strangely, Rudd is taking a leaf from Blair and siting Labor in the centre. The smaller parties are full of slitty eyed idealogues and not even worthy of consideration

Talking of foot shooting, it seems Gordon Brown has really gotten into trouble over party donations with a consequent plunge in approval rating and the Cons. have got an approval rating close to the Thatcher era.
