Personally, I did like the teas we would get at the NAFFI. Sometimes it just fit better with the situation then always coffee. Do miss the sausage sandwiches too.

I think most of those skirts you are wearing in those photos Imadube look great. You seem to have a pretty good sense of what suits you.

Just one problem - and it's the same problem that I have. Most men who wear skirts would have the same difficulty.

What to wear on our feet?

It looks like you have slippers on in a couple of those photos - and sneakers in others. I wear trainers all the time (you might call them sneakers, I don't know) - but I'm not really satisfied. I have not yet seen really suitable footwear for men - when they are wearing a skirt.

BTW - in my opinion, wearing a skirt with open mens' sandals is the ultimate sin!

'Funnily enough', several of the TV crowd in (weekend) Nottingham seem to do just that (open men's sandals)! It, as you rightly say, looks bl**dy awful, but even worse still as part of a TV outfit! :eh: :shake: (That's how we 'clocked 'em! My younger son had never seen a CD/TV, that he was aware, and we'd just missed a train home and had a couple of hours to kill. On the way back from the chip shop we saw some 'sights' ...........................!) :yuck:

ChristopherJ.
Thank you. My wife helps out, but I really try to look good. Goes back to most my life - alot in school - I was always the butt of jokes and picked on. So if I look good now to keeps the teasers and bullies at bay. Not to mention all the looks the ladies give me now, I think the grey in the Fu Manchu helps too.
As for the shoes I knew I can't wear cowboy boots with everything and tennis shoes are sometime way too casual. So my wife and I went looking for some loafers. Best way to be dressy and casual with out those stiff and uptight dress shoes. Besides, dress shoes make your feet "grow" in appearance and in a skirt (me especially) a man needs to really play down the size of his feet. Wearing skirts are for comfort any way, why wear stiff uptight shoes. Here is a link to the same kind of shoe I have: (now the price here on this link is about $130. 00 MORE then I paid)

Also, suede loafers or Boat shoes (slip on) are great too. have a dark brown pair of those as well.
You may find a great deal on Amazon.com
Thanks again and happy hunting.

PS - Open mens sandals are a sin against feet in any state - in my opinion of course.

OOPS forgot something - we got the Black and Brwon pair of loafers to save - money, space and need for changes. The dual color actually goes with alomost everything!

Okay, just because I have no idea what they are I'm gonna have to ask. What exactly do you guys mean by "open mens sandals?" How are they different from regular mens sandals? Thanks!

Hatred is learned, not inherited. Let a little child from Iraq play with a child from the United States, and they will play together without a care in the world. Put the children back in their homes and their parents and the media will teach them hate and prejudice.

OK, the devil in me insists I ask;

:question:If clothes don't have a gender, how come sandals do? :) :naughty: :)

Perhaps I should also ask what penance I should do for my sins, in warm weather I often wear a pair of Merrell activity sandals (similar, apart from colour, to these) with a variety of different skirts. This is simply a case of my replacing trousers with a skirt and changing nothing else, as I have no wish to "femme it up", I just wear a skirt for comfort.

In my defence, I will say that I NEVER wear sandals with socks :). I'm not sure that's a sin but I hate the look.

Have fun,

Ian.

"open mens sandals?"
For me it is the differents between sandals and flip flops - I tend to use the sturdy flip flops in warm weather to work out side and grass cutting.

"In my defence, I will say that I NEVER wear sandals with socks"
That is good news, being an Ex-Floridian 90% of the men I seen there would always wear socks and sandals. When most went without socks they wore flip flops.

It would be easy to pull off sandals in skirt, like you said with no socks nor any other "femme" look.

As for me, I just can not wear them so I will go bear foot or flip flops.

Socks with sandals are "femme"?

Post by binx »

That's comfort in cooler weather for me. Grass-cutting in flip-flops? That's dangerous! What does going bear foot look like?

Cutting grass in flip-flops is only dangerous if you're watching the neigbhours wife gardening, so watch were you're going and you're fine.

Got that one - bear foot - still sleepy here "bare foot". Thanks, got a good laugh too.

What I would like is to find some skirts, not so much Kilts (though the Utilikilt is cool) of different types that are affordable. Many pplaces that cater to Men's Skirts charge so much.
Maybe too kiltish for you, Imadude, but I've now bought three from this e-bay seller, fredonline, all for around £20 ($30) each.
http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search. ... arch&fgtp=
I have half a dozen traditional Scottish kilts, but for a less formal look for around the house or going out to the shops I wear these cheap casual so-called kilts, which cost a fraction of the price of a proper kilt. They are really kilted skirts as they are much lighter than proper kilts and only have around half the number of pleats. I have two all black polycotton ones made in Pakistan for Mercy Clothing Company who specialise in goth wear and an acryllic navy blue one. I take a 23" length in a made to measure kilt. These cheap off the shelf garments come in 22" or 24" standard lengths and I find the 24" length ideal for my height (5ft.8in) as they just fall to below the knee, just touching to the top of rugby socks, ideal for keeping covered and warm in winter.

Thanks will have to look into those. I think the kilt is a good garment, just don't want so much wrap arounds. Will see about one or two.

Picky . . picky . . picky . . .

Obviously, I meant to refer to the "non-denominational, completely asexual, non-confrontational, politically correct (made without hurting any cuddly ickle creatures)" revolting open sandals that all lentil-eating Marxist skirt wearers wear in December.

Silly me.

Not that I have anything against lentil eaters, of course. Or Marxists.

Takes all sorts . . . :)

I take it you don't have a Kilt, yet? They don't 'feel' (or move, or 'not-move') like a 'wrap-around' skirt - at all. There's a lot of (very flexible) material, to be sure, but they are warm in winter, supportive of the lower back area and (your wife might not like this, be warned!) serious 'babe magnets'! You never know, some of your 'stuffy' (female) neighbours might just go out of their way to engage you in (shock, horror!) real, meaningful conversation! :cheer:

You're right don't have one yet. My wife got a pattern and made one but more like those costume clothes, not a real one. Will look into getting one, just got to wait.
