Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Workers have rights, but a right to wear certain garments is a tough one IMO, unless it's hazardous to not wear something. Too late to go for health benefits or heritage? Something that's more negotiable and/or covered by the organization's diversity policies?
You know, Topsy, you're kind of stuck with your inital answer as to why you would like to wear a skirt. At a guess, I'd say that, like me, you feel much more relaxed and good-humoured in that style of dress. This effect, unfortunately, is incomprehensible to many people.
What did your union rep have to say about this? have you reached the end of the road or is there another avenue for you to pursue to try and achieve the result you want?
Have fun,
Ian.
