I always wear underpants with my kilts and still prefer that combination to trousers. Dont laugh but when I first started to wear my traditional kilt regularly here in Scotland, I practised sitting down in front of a mirror! Im good at it now but there will always be the time when a bit of underwear shows or you get caught in the wind etc. Its accepted here because men and ladies always wore navy pants under kilts for dancing. I did when I was young and with kilts flying up and swinging etc it was impossible not to see underwear. So long as its coordinated with the tartan of the kilt its ok. Nothing worse thatn white pnts under a kilt.Skirt Chaser wrote:Because skirts aren't automatically more comfortable. Even in a skirt or dress I wear pants underneath. Females tend to have larger thighs and the feeling from them rubbing together is not one of comfort. :shake:
I think many of my other reasons for loving pants have already been covered- I don't get hot anyway, pockets, no need to be aware of sitting with my legs together, no skirt-tucked-in-underwear mishaps, and avoiding the feeling of exposure. I'll add that modesty goes out the window when trying to get up after sitting cross legged on the floor in a dress. I have also heard some women wear pants when they haven't gotten around to shaving their legs though in that case a long skirt or dress would amount to the same coverage effect.
The list for me also includes knowing I look good in pants (skirts and dresses too for that matter) and the handy fact that santiary napkins wear better with jeans or other close fitting pants to hold them in place. I'm wondering if that is the reason in ancient Persia (if I have the place right) trousers were a female only article of clothes. Men just don't have the same benefits from pants.

Not for meeeee
I don't have to worry about showing anything when wearing a straight skirt, even one thats only knee length. It automatically holds the knees together or nearly so. My slip usually falls between my legs if I'm wearing an A-line and I always wear boxer shorts. Since I started wearing skirts mainly for hip and lower back support straight skirts are perfect for me.
I'm sure Charlie doesn't have to worry about that when wearing one of his sarongs either. They are very much like a straight skirt when walking or sitting.:ninjajig:

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Hey, I've always seen it as optional for women so men should have the same choice. :wink2:crfriend wrote:As far as I can tell, the jury is still out as to whether blokes should shave their legs if they're going to wear skirts. There are no rules in this realm!
Thanks for the dress arranging advice, I really need the practice considering when I get off the floor there's usually children on the floor too. I've got a low set audience to work around.
