I'll have you know that not only are tiered skirts very comfortable, they can also work quite well on a man. I'm wearing one in my avatar [as of 2006-05-24] and have posted a larger version in the "Why don't you post pictures" thread.

That said, I'm going to use another "forbidden word" -- accessorise! Yes, gents, it's how you put the outfit (dang, there's another forbidden word!) together that makes or breaks it. Shove the skirt in with a collection of otherwise "manly bits" and it'll look just fine -- especially it the skirt in question isn't a tiered print (although I do have my eyes on a couple of those that I think I can make work).

I wear my black six-tier skirt very frequently in public -- in fact last night The Wife and I had to go looking for a new refrigerator (the 38-year-old having died on Monday) and I wore that skirt. There wasn't a single comment or even overt notice of it.

My tiered skirt

Post by Since1982 »

Because I have problems with my panniculus and need to wear straight, pencil or tall A line skirts to keep it on top of my lap instead of falling between my knees, causing lots of lower back pain, I can't wear my tiered skirt as a primary garment. It's Sooooo comfortable against my skin tho, I wear it as an underskirt with my straight skirts. I'm wearing it under an ankle length denim straight skirt as I type this. :) The tiered skirt is wayyy more comfortable against the skin than any denim, stone washed or otherwise.:)

You can tell by my icon that I am a BIG fan of tiered skirts. Nothing beats their comfort and the flowing motion of the skirts. There are so many color and styles to choose from, it is hard to just have one....

We all have our "nothing beats the comfort" of this or that, but I sure wouldn't assume that is the way everyone thinks about tiered skirts. For me for instance, tiered skirts are fine for sleeping in or walking to and from the computer for short visits in. For me personally, skirts that are tight in my waist, hips and upper thighs are far better. I have lower back, hip and hanging panniculus pain problems. These things need almost corset like support. I get none of that in a tiered skirt, I do in straight, A-line or pencil skirts. So for me, nothing beats their comfort but I'd not believe that worked for everyone. Sort of like those skinny women on TV diet ads, "I lost 150 pounds on Hydrocephimilinatighaphores Diet Pills 10 times a day in only 15 days, and if I could do it, so could you!" How does she know that, everyones metabolisms are different, just like everyone's taste in skirts. :):shake:
