A boat passed us going the other way. When it was a 'safe' distance from us, someone shouted "He's got a skirt on!" (It was a denim Union kilt).
Without turning I extended my arm and gave him the thumbs up, keeping walking. Well, I was pleasantly relaxed and comfortable in the sunshine. Bet he was sweating in his trousers, long or short

Apart from that one incident we travelled to the canal via bus and train, had a beer in the pub by the river and had a pleasant walk without a single comment about the 'skirt' from anyone else. A good day.
The day before, we'd walked into town and I wore an ankle-length deep purple gypsy skirt, again with no comments. At one point we passed a group of youths sitting in the shade while sweating in their jeans. I expected some reaction ... but nothing.
