Mrs C and I took a walk along the Kennet & Avon canal at Avoncliff yesterday.
A boat passed us going the other way. When it was a 'safe' distance from us, someone shouted "He's got a skirt on!" (It was a denim Union kilt).
Without turning I extended my arm and gave him the thumbs up, keeping walking. Well, I was pleasantly relaxed and comfortable in the sunshine. Bet he was sweating in his trousers, long or short :D
Apart from that one incident we travelled to the canal via bus and train, had a beer in the pub by the river and had a pleasant walk without a single comment about the 'skirt' from anyone else. A good day.
The day before, we'd walked into town and I wore an ankle-length deep purple gypsy skirt, again with no comments. At one point we passed a group of youths sitting in the shade while sweating in their jeans. I expected some reaction ... but nothing.

"I expected some reaction ... but nothing."

It's only when they are drunk that they voice their surprise. And by then, of course, they are not worth spending time with.

Which direction were they travelling? If you let me know the name of the boat, I could nip over there this evening and go for a walk along the towpath. It would be fun to see their reaction to two skirted men in two days.

I've no idea. We had just come up the steps from the railway station so I guess the boat was abreast us by then.

Not quite, out and about, but funny little interaction. Saw a co-worker for the first time since hearing of her promotion. Quite well deserved, and impressive as she is fairly young. The position is one that it is rare to find a woman in, even these days. While it definitely puts her senior to me, not exactly my superior.

"Hey, congratulations on the promotion, well deserved!" "Thanks" she was somewhat bashful about it, don't see it going to her head anytime soon. "So...do I call you boss? Or just curtsy?" Suiting actions to words.

Got a good laugh out of her at least!

Oh this is embarrassing - - -
Which brings up an interesting question for you Brit folk - What do you do if you meet your Queen on a casual outing ?
This of course when you are skirted -OR- Firstly meeting the Queen on a casual outing not possible perhaps James as
in James Bond or MI6 wouldn't even permit you within visual range might spoil the Queen parachuting out of her helicopter
-THEN- on another note WHAT IF a chance encounter is a curtsy a proper thing to do while skirted ?
And the final answer if certain protocol is not observed does the Tower Bridge have a new occupant ?

Sometimes in reading the SC forum in the lavender or is it lime light will expose knee jerk reactions but interesting results !
Oh good heavens sir I am not going to Knight you - get off your knees and stop that fussing with the hem of your ah hem skirt !!!!! LOL !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

At the end of a folk dance (and sometimes at the beginning) you 'honour' your partner. I usually curtsy because it feels more appropriate and natural when wearing a skirt, even though I may be dancing 'as man'.

Men who wear skirted garments such as kimonos bow rather than curtsy, so that is what I think is more appropriate.

It's just The Tower that you enter although I suspect not willingly, not Tower Bridge. Completely different entities and yes males bow, females curtsey.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Depends on whether or not I am carrying an offensive weapon, and on who is watching! But I suppose "Hello Mrs Windsor" would do.

I have softened up the people of Irvine for you, so if you had no observable reaction to your stylish and sensible attire, that could be why. But why go to Irvine? I live nearby and I'd be shopping, that my excuse. What's yours?

Went out yesterday in a white skirt for the first time in several years. Beyond my all too real concern about getting it dirty (didn't happen), I thought I looked good in it, heck, I even had a twentysomething woman compliment me on my appearance. Cool!

I much prefer this to your other posts I've seen (I may have missed loads, I'm not sure). It has a good balance and I think it suits your physique well. The colours are great too.
