I always remember an anecdote I read about a US businessman taking a taxi in Bejing. The driver reportedly complimented him, "Oooh, you speak a-velly good a-English foe Amerllican!"

For the first time ever I received three compliments this week while wearing a green utilikilt at the local supermarket, one from an older man who spoke with a Scotish accent and two women.

We did our weekly outing to the movies tonight, downtown Wilmington. I wore a chocolate brown corduroy skirt from Woolrich, just below the knee in length, black cable knit tights, brown Sanita closed back clogs, and a black sweater. All my life I was told you can't coordinate black with brown, but this outfit looks pretty darn good. Even my wife approved! I received no discernible reactions except for a cashier in a supermarket where we stopped to buy dog food on the way home. She seemed so unnerved to see a man in a skirt take his credit card from a shoulder bag that she made all sorts of mistakes.

BTW, the film was "Dallas Buyers Club" with Matthew McConaughey. He was outstanding, as were the supporting actors. I highly recommend the film.

Last week we saw "Philomena" with Dame Judy Dench; another outstanding performance, and another film I also highly recommend. I wore an ankle-length black skirt by XCVI, with zipper pockets in front (though the zippers are a bit flimsy, and more for show than function) and ruched side panels. The outfit included black oxfords, and a black sweater; also not a bad ensemble although the evening was windy and I still can't get used to the feel of wind wrapping the hem of a long skirt around my ankles. Also we sat upstairs in the balcony (it is a 19th century theater) and I always feel a bit odd lifting the hem of a long skirt to climb stairs, a bit like Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind". Though not as odd, I suppose, as I would feel if I tripped over my own hem! LOL!

I think we will take next week off since my son will be home on a winter break.

I envy you, Dillon that you have an approving spouse and can go out skirted like that. I won't be able to do that this side of Eternity, alas.

Didn't Scarlet have a 17 inch waist?.....at least when she was a young gel!

Her approval extends only as far as anonymous circumstances, where the liklihood of her needing to explain a skirted husband is unlikely. But I will say that she has come a long way in the years that I have been indulging my fashion compulsions, and I cannot imagine having any other.

LOL. And here I just got mine down to a 38 again! Maybe I need to try corsets too! In fact I had envisioned a corseted kilt, once upon a time...

I took my new op shop, home dyed skirt out for a test trip to the local oval to walk the dog and kick a ball with my son. Very comfortable. All I need to do is add some pockets to it.

I am not sure why my pictures are doing that. They are the right way up in my view and when I insert them.

Lots of wet weather here in the UK just lately, so what a good excuse to go out in a waterproof skirt :D with a denim knee-length skirt underneath. I love walking in the rain, anyway.
I bought the skirt (Amazon call it a "Rain kilt") for a narrowboat holiday - the weather wasn't too good and driving the boat entails standing outside in all weathers. Great on a sunny day, not so good on a wet and windy day.
Walked down to the local supermarket. Inside, a mother said to her child "Mind the ... " I think she saw me, saw the skirt and then couldn't decide man or woman. Ah well, she was in jeans so I knew she was female

PS I live in Somerset but not all of the county is under water, although I can see the flooded levels from an upstairs window about 15 miles south. Somerset is definitely (excuse me shouting) OPEN FOR BUSINESS.

Is this "rain kilt" intended to be worn over trousers?

Don't know - the advert doesn't say - does it matter? I found it easier to pull on over my head, and step out of it to take off.

I looked at a web site that implied that a "rain kilt" would be worn over trousers. Apparently the idea is to avoid the hassle of changing clothes. Somewhat similar to the idea of wrapping an insulated skirt around trousers in cold weather.

What is that ? - Some kind of new floatation device ? - Or change the color(s) and you could be a kilted buoy !

Sadly the weather is so screwed up this year that places that are getting water are getting way too much and those
places that need it none not a trace. By the time an ice shelf off of Antiartica could alleviate the problem global warming
will have melted it to raise ocean water level. Better have Noah built another ark - I fear we will be needing it - but avast
once afloat where will there be land to set foot - whoops wrong page out of the bible. Looks like Disney's Sorcerers Apprentice
has gone and done it again - now where was that back-up back-up plan ? All them mops and buckets running around amuck
and empting the water back were it came from - such folly !

Peace - hope everything for everyone changes for the better !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
