I was going to try and get in with this pre-emptively, but I've failled on at least two counts. Skip already beat me to the posting and at least one of our little community is already in 2011 (That'd be Jack Williams)!

So I'll do the next best thing and most heartily second Skip's salutation!

By the by, Skip, I have no doubts that you'll be here tomorrow.

"He who waits to post today, will wait to post another day."

I've got approx. 10 months to go before realizing my supposedly guaranteed three score and ten. (of course that's IF I'm careful with my mortality and don't do anything stupid.) Unfortunately, for me and my short fuse, stupid is easily done. :faint:

Happy New Year! For those music lovers out there, I'm hoping y'all could enjoy this!
Emma on flute
I wrote her a comment and said I thought she was really great, and mentioned that I played flute too (at least I did before my accident) and she actually wrote me a little note back! I was flattered!

GUID NEW YEAR TAE ANE AND A
Old Scots, Happy New Year to Everyone. Point is it means Everyone, no exceptions." Hogmanay" or New Year's Eve , is more important to us than in some respects , Christmas. It really is seen as a time of new beginnings and possibilities, but withoout the hogwash of resolutions, only made to be broken.

It is now the first day of the first year of the second decade of the 21st. century. That's gotta count for something, right?
Happy second decade!
So how does this New Year "feel" to everyone?
Anyone notice a difference yet?

Well, yes, but that's by measuring using a particular calendar -- and there are plenty of others to choose from. The Chinese have a perfectly good one, and the Mayan calendar is still in operation (for a wee bit longer).

In any event, I do not feel particularly different today then I did yesterday, and I'll probably not feel all that different tomorrow than I did the day before, so I'll chalk that up to good luck. There is, of course, the long-term general slowdown of which I'm aware; for instance I don't eat as much as I used to because I don't have to as my metabolism has slowed down, but I can still get out and walk a few miles, I can still shovel snow (although I hate that), and I can still acquit myself reasonably with other physical activity.

In a little more than a week's time I shall enter the second half-century of my existence. I'll likely brag about that for a few minutes before my pals tell me to shut up about it.

Well, in about 12 days, I will have completed 3 score years and start
on my 4th score. Hah! 2 score and 10 seems better all the time ;)

No. It makes him 59, and in twelve days he'll celebrate his 60th, bringing him to the end of his third score and the beginning of his fourth score.
