Isn't that the point of this topic, though?
Hear, hear! That's, to my mind, precisely the point. Here we lot are, trying to expand the horizons for blokes' fashions a bit, so why are we sniping at one another? After all, we're all in this together; we may as well learn to politely "agree to disagree" on things.

The main thing I've learned from wearing skirts is that I don't need to carry as much baggage a I always thought I needed to -- which is a blessing in and of itself. My wallet is a lot thinner (why was I carrying ATM receipts from six months ago?), and even in skirts with pockets doesn't spoil the line (looking good is important, you know, and lumps seldom look good) or drape.

The "trannie" comment was out of line, and quite probably should have been stepped on before this, but I suppose everybody needs to make themselves look silly from time to time; it keeps us honest.
As for length, that is just as likely to be 'weather dependent' as for any perceived 'fashion' reason. Similar arguments could be used for the material used, of course. I'm sure those who enjoy dancing have equally valid reasons for declaring, "a perfect skirt!"
Precisely. We've all got different "drivers", and many of us have remarkably different styles and tastes. We should be celebrating that! For instance, I really like the skirt pictured in Gregg's avatar. I'd wear that in a heartbeat. I even like the colour.
However, once one steps out of the "activity" scenario, then it could be regarded (by some) as taking the game to a different level, and to all intents and purposes, probably outside the realm of this forum(?).
I'm not sure on that count. We're all coming at this from different angles, but the common thread seems to be, "Why should I be confined to only trousers?". To a point, who cares what the motivator is so long as the result is decent, good looking, and doesn't cause problems on the street?

Perhps I should clarify that a little further? Because horizons here have widened rather rapidly over the past few months, there are those whose choices others will find too extreme (for their personal taste). I see nothing wrong with making such a point as long it doesn't lapse into personal abuse or rhetoric. On a purely personal level, I do feel a little uneasy (because I see no common ground) with those whose only aim is to, 'femme it up'. However, it is interesting to read, and occasionally politely question, their particular motivation, and I do think that those who 'live on the edge' should be prepared for this.

Replying to the "Perfect Skirt" and the "Tranny" comments, I find that what I am looking for is always comfort.

Usually, this is the physical comfort of a plain skirt worn round the house (unlike some, I haven't ventured out).

However, sometimes it is emotional comfort I want, and then I am more likely to want to do the whole tranny thing, with wig, makeup, frilly skirt or dress, full underwear and high heels.

I'm on this site, though, because I would like any type of skirt to be acceptable attire for men. If that acceptance starts with denim or cargo skirts or kilt-like skirts, fine. I can happily keep the frills for private wear on those odd occasions when I want to wear that sort of garment
All the best,

Andrew

It's funny when I hear people's opinions of comfortable clothing. People swear to the comfort of jeans, I find them baggy uncomfortable, the characteristics people seem to like.

I like leggings because they are snug, and move with my body when I move. They are easy to wear, and are unique as of this time. Suprisingly to me, the snuggness is one of the main turnoffs for people, not only for the look, but for the comfort.

When it comes to skirts, I find tighter fitting (especially about the waist to just below the bum area) to be quite comfortable feeling. I like skirts that have a zip, far more than ones with an elastic waist. Most people find skirts like this uncomfortable.

I guess it really illustrates everyone has different tastes, and no one is wrong.

perfect skirt

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi,
Someone came out of the Blue No Where with a picture of what they hailed as the perfect skirt. It didn't appeal to me, so I said so, with reasons why. Which others have said is the point of the forum..
So I won't bother again. Had the poster said " Could this be the perfect skirt", I wouldn't have responded. I don't respond to any religion, politics type of posts either, because frankly, I'm not interested. If thats what people like, great, carry on. My interests are now more geared to motorcycles, trucks and cars now, so coming in here is becoming more infrequent. Fed up with all the back biting. I will still wear a skirt at home for comfort, but thats for me.

I only wear straight skirts, so a pocket would be so slim it would be useless. I fit a small 'D' ring on the right-hand side of some of my skirt's waistbands so that I can clip of things on it, like a phone, keys, torch etc. Two of my skirts always have a 2" key ring clipped onto the waistband 'D' ring so that I can carry several things at once. I got the idea from the girls in my bank who wear straight skirts and need to carry keys, but I notice that several retail chains also supply their female staff with straight skirts that have 'D' rings on the waistband.

You can buy skirts from the USA. I bought this skirt from this company.
http://www.shopnational.com/product.cfm ... 0W&qo=0&#b
Their website says that they do not ship abroad, but I wrote to them and complained and they said no problem just fax us your order and CC details and we will ship it.
I took about 3 weeks to arrive and I did not have to pay import duty on it, I think it cost me about £25 all told. This is about the same price that you would pay for a straight skirt in this country.

You are ofcourse not allone, I for one, wear many skirts, but of late, more tasteful ( for me) women's skirts. And I also wear jewelry, and heels. All in the open, in town, on the bycicle, everywhere. Some may think this tranny
but I do not. I have no artificial breasts, no wig, do nothing to make my face look female. But do wear ear rings of all soorts, complementing my neclaces and armbands. Freestyle. But I also wear neutral denim skirts, with T shirts and the like, with sandals in the summer.

It is for some a large step, but getting out there, as YOU really are is so good for you.

The woman who is modeling it must be short as the skirt is nowhere near as long as that on me!

Goth skirts...

Post by DavidsSkirts »

re: that convertible long black Goth skirt, above...

That could be a very useful skirt for travel, as long as it doesn't weigh too much -
* two in one;
* handy pockets and D-rings;
* versatile and adjustable;
* can be converted from conservative/dressy to racy/daring in a flash..

I like the potential there - that's my kind of skirt.
