Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

Thank you all for the supportive messages.
I am glad i did it and while for my parents it is some getting used to (they are from another generation, they say it has nothing to do with that but i think it does as when they were between 20 and 35 like i am this totally wasn't as normal as it is now) but yeah they will get used to it in time.
Another generation maybe, but I suspect the real concern is they are "worried for you" -- afraid wearing a skirt will curtail opportunities; or get you hurt in some way --- if there are ways for them to be with you, see you in public while skirted --- and they can see directly that it really isn't a big deal; that people may be curious but nothing more -- they will probably come around. The same scenario seems to in the heads of S.O's as well -- though there the S.O is sometimes fearful the disdain from the public might fall on them as well. Not a lot different than the doubts most of us went through BEFORE we ventured out in public. Any opportunities you can give them to see their worries are unfounded will likely help.
Regarding skirt sizing -- when shopping locally, you almost always have changing rooms, so you can test the size and look before laying down your cash!

You are right that they are worried and that probably plays a big part in it as well.
Yeah when shopping locally there are changing rooms however i only had a local shopping experience once so far and while that was a really good one it is still something to get used to.
Right now i have 2 skirts that fit me and a third one is being worked on (i can pick the third one up next week on tuesday) and for one of those 2 i need leggings or something similar in boxershort length because it's short, so yeah it's a starting point however because i would like to have more options for me to wear without breaking the bank that much i want to try and visit the local thrift store in the town i work (a fellow dutchmen suggested one actually in my introduction thread however the one he suggested is a bit too far for me) so yeah my plan is to go visit that sometime to see what they have available, at what price and whether or not it fits. I also have another store in mind where they know me (i always buy pants/throusers there) and maybe they hane some options i like that will fit me (unless on sale that will be MSRP though and that will break the bank if done too much)
