Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I spent the afternoon in Birmingham yesterday for a concert, treating myself to a Chinese buffet beforehand. Wore a black tennis skirt, red patterned t-shirt and black trainers. Would definitely say that I was noticed during my visit, with two comments, one positive and the other negative: Positive...

Re: Changing attitudes

It obviously depends on what country you live in, but in more progressive western societies, it’s definitely got better. Certainly, here in the UK, I’ve never had a problem wearing skirts and by extension high heels in public (they go hand in hand I usually wear heels with skirts). Today I went shop...

Why don’t men wear dresses? Older article

This is an old article but it shows the issues and why this is still so ingrained in western society

Skirt suit

This is a seriously nice skirt type suit that many men could easily wear:

I love the heeled boots as well. Not sure due to the price that the fabric is going to be the best quality but the concept is great.

Re: What makes a skirt manly v feminine

To answer whether a skirt is masculine or feminine one has to first be clear about what masculine and feminine actually is. And it immediately runs into problems. Why? Quite simply because conceptions of masculinity and femininity are social constructs. They are made up. A hundred years ago pink was...

Re: Compliments... but for what though?

Those are an awesome pair of heels, where did you get them and how high are they? They look about 8”. I wear heels, they have to be 5-7” and I particularly like wearing platforms. I think you are right, the boat has to be pushed out quite far now for anyone to comment. That’s a good thing. I’ve worn...

Re: Denim Maxi Skirts

I have 4 denim maxi skirts! One is the first skirt I ever bought which is a long straight skirt with a big slit on the back. I have two stretchy pencil skirts, one in blue and the other in black. Lastly, I have an A line denim maxi which has unusual pocket positions. I love all of them and I usually...

Re: Dresses?

I’ve only recently dipped my toe in the water regarding dresses, but I have to say I absolutely love them. I think the trick is finding styles of dresses that you like and of course that fit you. I am relatively lucky that I am more or less a standard UK 16 top and bottom and I don’t have problems i...

Re: Can a skirt ever look masculine

The original question asked in this thread is wrong because there is an overwhelming assumption that there is such a thing as masculine and feminine. They are nothing but social constructs and are the cause of so many problems, particularly for men. What exactly is feminine? The colour pink is assoc...

Re: Non-Binary Models in Fashion

Are non-binary models in fashion industry helping all men be accepted wearing dresses or skirts? .... Same model can be found modeling shirts and pants for men and modeling skirts and dresses for women. No, not at all. They represent the idea, that wearing a skirt or dress is a gender issue. To don...

Re: Tatler

Anything that promotes males whether they are gender non conforming or not wearing skirts and dresses is a good thing. I couldn’t care less what labels someone else might put on me: if articles like this raise awareness that guys wearing skirts/dresses/heels is not a problem, people will start to ge...

Re: Are we engaging in fashion freedom?

Women are currently in a better societal position than men are to wear what they want, but let’s not forget that women fought hard for those freedoms. Men have to do the same, and I sadly see little evidence of that happening. Men are their own worst enemies by self policing masculinity and keeping ...

Re: Those are women's shoes

I dropped off a pair of low heel pumps to a shoe repair place to have work done on them. Before going out to pick them up, I called to confirm that the work was done. I told the gentleman on the other side of the line the number on the claim ticket. He asked me the description of the shoes. After a...
