Re: Is anyone else trying to learn a language?
To Duolingo's credit, it seems to be very supportive of MIS. Bob, George and Seth all have them!

Re: Ham Radio
I got my license as part of the amateur radio society at what was Hatfield Polytechnic. Then hadn't touched it since. About a year ago I looked up the current situation and renewed, got a small handheld radio and promptly haven't touched it again since. Had never forgotten my call sign is G7EAK but ...

Re: Cash or plastic?
Some platforms make it less visible but trying to do some modelling of expected card transaction costs recently was enough of the nightmare that we gave up - different percentages for every variation of in person/by phone/online / credit/debit /Visa/Mastercard/AmEx/Diners (etc.) /personal/corporate ...

Re: Is anyone else trying to learn a language?
I'm trying to learn Arabic (Modern Standard), as a means to keep the brain active, mostly using the Duolingo app but also a few podcasts as well. When I get some time I will try and find an in-person class too. I chose it as a widely used language that might be useful both at home and abroad. It was...

Re: 1980's Pic - skirts were the norm?
I wish my Range Rover still looked that good and indeed driveable. 1980 had me (age 10) at the whatever I could borrow from Mum’s wardrobe/ the charity donation bag and not get caught stage. In many ways I’m still at the ‘not get caught’ stage, since she expressed her disapproval a long time ago and...

Re: Anyone can be a princess - conservatives riot
a grown man is normally expected to have a settled identity and, as an adult, one who is in touch with reality. However if that were true, there'd be no such term as "mid-life crisis" and sales of motorcycles and red sports cars would plummet. That is not the world in which we live (fortu...

Re: Would you swim in a dress or skirt?
Of course, naturally, has me curious, should there be some kind of swim-skirt or swim-robe or swim-dress or swim-tunic...for men? If so, what should it be like? A search for “old time”, “20s” or “Victorian” and “men’s swimming costume” will answer that for you! Preferably made of wool, obviously, n...

Having supported and got the previous two, I'm looking forward to getting one of these as well. The waist adjustability will help quite a bit at the moment!

Re: Presenting "as a woman"
I do have trans friends who I fully respect, its a huge journey and only a tiny number will benefit from going this route, and not just to dress as they want. Then again there are old schools of thought it is safer to disguise as a woman if you can than openly skirt as a man, one we hope is eroding...

Re: New Skirtcraft Wrap Skirt Design
I like the look, although a bit a concern about the cord and the hole on left it goes through. Haven’t been keeping an eye on the exchange rate lately but I think the threshold for import duty is now higher than last time I imported something so would consider it, since I have and like the other two...

GQ - “It’s time to stop skirting the issue”
https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/fashion/article/stop-skirting-the-issue “Now is the moment to bare more leg than ever before, says Teo van den Broeke, and he doesn’t mean short shorts...” - posted 8th August 2021. I think I’ve seen things from Teo on skirts before but I’m not a regular GQ reader and ...

Re: Turn up skirted for the first time
Would love to hear how that worked out. Are these colleagues people you’ve know for a while? Hasn't happened yet! I can't even remember who I was concerned about when I wrote that. We're reviewing a possible return to the office again in May/June and indications are we'll be allowing fully flexible...

Re: Historical Crossdressing - 27th Feb 18:00GMT webinar
It wasn't recorded but I did scribble a few very incomplete notes afterwards: Bearing in mind this is newspaper and court reports between about 1750 and 1850. There are many reported incidences of women dressing as men to either follow their partner e.g. to sea or to war, where women would not have ...

Historical Crossdressing - 27th Feb 18:00GMT webinar
Primarily of interest to some of us in the UK, the Gender Community Lending Library has "an informal Zoom talk followed by a Q&A session discussing the progress on GCLL's first public history project". From the Eventbrite listing: "About this Event For around two months I've been ...

Re: Hello and Happy Lockdown!
Welcome from another based in/near London depending on how you define it. As others have said, get out there and be confident, people will largely not notice, or care if they do, especially with a mask on.
