How many of you get or give yourselves regular manicures and/or pedicures?

normally, i have painted toes and acrylic nails.
a recent fungal infection has caused the removal of my acrylics for treatment. this seems to be cleared up, and i will be regaining my claws soon.
i think the appearence of well-maintained nails adds immeasurably to anybody's looks.
how are yours kept, sapphire?

For many years, I had acrylic nails. They were lots of fun. I used to paint them in muliple colors, add striping and gems and decals. For one trip to Disney, I had a different Disney character painted onto each nail, and got to park for free!
However, my nails grow so fast that in order to keep the acrylics looking good, I had to get fill ins every week. That got to be too expensive.
So I give myself a manicure (grooming, not paint job) about every two weeks. I have wild cutucles, but I find that they can be tamed with olive oil. Unfortunately olive oil and nailpolish are incompatible, so I only decorate for special occassions. For everyday, I like my nails fairly short, but nicely shaped.
I've also been known to paint political sentiments onto my nails.
I've gotten lax with pedicures and one of my New Year's resolutions is to get back to doing them.
Like you, r1g0r, I really love the look of well groomed nails, whether decorated or not.

Sometimes I like to paint my toe nails, and it makes me happy to look at them peeking back at me. I'll do different colors at different times, and then at times just let them go natural for a while. Depends on my mood.
I painted my fingernails yellow for a special occasion at one point. And I discovered that pulse oxymeters work through yellow nail polish. But I didn't like having paint on my finger nails. It felt too toxic for my liking (couldn't put my hands in my mouth), and fragile to boot. I prefer my finger nails short and au naturel.

Not only is it acceptable to be proud of your children and grandchildren, it is almost mandatorySarongman wrote:...my granddaughter, two years ago, she is now, as of the 30th, 9 years old and ---must not brag!!!

Have fun,

I absolutely love nail polish. I do my toes during summer months when sandals can be worn, but at other times it seems pretty pointless if they cannot be seen.
I have a professional manicure every month and have a pale pink polish applied with ivory french tips which look very natural. I would love to have them obviously coloured but sadly this would cause marital problems.
Looking around other forums it appears that in general, women do not like nail polish on men - but I polish for me.

In my short lived goth club days, I wore shiny black metallic nail polish on my toes and fingers. It was okay. I liked how the polished toe nails looked under sheer black hose. But alas, this was for a very short time. Work rules, and schedules killed off those happy outings. I think I was acually part of the club scene for a maximum total of 4 months before it ended, work and reality hit pretty hard.

I love the look of well groomed nails, painted or not. The paint is just for fun.
One of my favorite painted looks is a French manicure as Beverlonian describes, but with an overcoat of very fine silver sparkles. It makes the nails look like they were dipped in sugar. I usually add clear rhinestones to finish the effect.
Pythos, I love your idea of black polish under black stockings. Will have to try it.
This is really what I was asking about, but I suppose that I was asking two questions in one: grooming and paint.I have a professional manicure every month

I have a pedicure done about every other month. Partly for the relaxation, partly for maintenance of my feet. I wear tons of sandals and flip flops and love to have a clean well cared for look.
I primarily use a matte clear finish, although I do like the sheer blues and sheer pearl colors as they add some color without being too loud and flashy. My absolute favorite is a french pedicure...both on women and myself. I think it looks very clean and well grommed. Some say it makes the toenails look like they need to be cut, but if the white line is thin enough, I think it looks great. i've received some wierd looks in the nail salons and some compliments from both other patrons and the nail technitions.
