Men in Skirts at Music Festivals
Men in Skirts at Music Festivals
Hey there, I'm going to this really cool music festival in Sept called Earthdance, it seems like a good place for me to experiment with my skirts, and alternative dress. Do any of you have any ideas? I've got a cute black mini skirt I'd think would go good with a tank top and some fishnets and sandals, maybe paint the toenails, and I'm thinking about getting a longer skirt or sarong for another day, maybe even some hot shorts for dancing at night, there will be bands all day and DJ's all night for 3 days, it sounds like its gonna be a good place to let some of this energy out, and be free. I'm thinking I won't get too much crap from anyone being that its a music festival with a peaceful vibe, if you got any ideas or have any experience, please post!

It sounds as if you'll have fun!
I think that's a good idea, getting a longer skirt as well as your miniskirt. It's good to be able to choose the length of skirt according to what you'll be doing. A mini can reveal rather a lot of leg when you sit. A long skirt might get muddy if you'll be outdoors (will you be going to outdoor gigs?).
Your thread has come at an opportune moment, as I recently went to a concert in another music festival: the Proms! Of course I wore a skirt: a three-quarter-circle black crush velvet skirt, held out over a petticoat of the widest sort that I could find: 7 layers: 2 smooth polyester layers with 5 layers of netting in between to give fullness.

fka Richard II. The one in the long skirt.
Sounds great! I used to go to the Proms a lot when I was a teenager and lived within travelling distance of London.Richard III wrote:... Were you in the Arena or the Gallery? Or just sitting? Your skirt sounds very nice indeed, but I can imagine it wasa bit hot in the Albert Hall especially if you were in the Arena.

I was in the Gallery. I didn't want to have to stand throughout the concert, which you'd have to do if you were in the Arena.
With all those layers, the petticoat provides quite a comfortable cushion. Just before the start, as I relaxed, sitting on the floor, one arm against a railing, and the skirt spread out in front of me, a member of staff came round. She admired my skirt, and said that I was very well prepared: it was like a bed! I think I know what she means, but I wasn't planning to go to sleep!
It wasn't hot. For one thing, the ambient temp wasn't all that hot anyway for mid-July: it was cloudy and there had been showers. For another thing, the Albert Hall now has air conditioning.
