I have sewn most of my current skirt inventory myself and typically get a lot of positive comments on them from members of both sexes. In fact I'm working on a new one right now and hope to have it ready for dancing this weekend. I have a few thrift shop finds that are comfy old favorites too.
Hey, that sounds just like me (except not the "two times a week" -- my life schedule doesn't give me that many free evenings.) You aren't a clone of me, by any chance :)

Where do you dance, that there's dancing twice a week? Around here (NYC area), it's only on Saturday nights (with occasional Fridays.)

Me, too. I'm sort of waiting for my kids to graduate from high school before I "come out" in my home community, but I wear skirts at home, for walks early in the morning, and on long drives. So far, I haven't been locked up and sent to Gitmo .

I'm fascinated that there really are folk who 'have a problem' with people wearing socks with sandals! Sandals and (short) socks were always normal boy's summer wear, in my younger days. The only time I'd see sandals (or be allowed to wear!) without socks, would be at the seaside, when on holiday. Same goes for 'flip-flops' (is there a 'proper' designation?) - 'holiday only' gear! There's some 'fun' pictures on that site, for sure. There's a bloke wearing nothing but socks & sandals, and some folk regard that as a 'fashion fau pas'?????? :D :?

I didn't realise they were only for women! I've seen them advertised locally as 'trainer socks' or similar (minimise suntan 'lines'?). No gender designation! I've worn them for some three years now, out and about, too! And I've seen plenty of other blokes wearing them. Heck! I daren't go to sleep tonight, I might (gulp!) wake up as a full-fledged woman!

"Shorty socks"

Foo! Those aren't for women only. I wear 'em most of the time under tr*users and even under skirts when I'm after a really "casual" look (like I did this evening when The Wife and I went out for supper). They're great for summertime.

Phew! Thanks for that, Carl! I thought they must be "OK", as my other half suggested getting some in the first place! On the basis that she 'bothers' about me being 'seen' wearing skirts in the neighbourhood (everyone has seen, or knows, I do!), I concluded that what I refer to as 'socklets' must be kosher! :D

Worse yet you may unintentionally encourage the neighbors to wear low cut socks thus causing them to become full fledged women too.
Aha! You're welcome!

Looking in our local 'free paper' this morning, at one of the local supermarkets adverts, in the Men's Section the first item is: "Adidas Mens 3 Pack Trainer Socks" (for £4!) :D So, they're principally intended for Men (or, as dyslexic women read, "U-n-i-s-e-x"!), after all! However, the third item (yes, in the Men's bit!) had me worried, "'Goldenlegs' Mix & Match Tights from only 69p"! I'm sure there's a subversive Government plot to 'convert' blokes into women. Now I'm really in a state of panic - If I got 'caught', I'd have to wear (ugh!) jeans!

Hi! I'm new around here, and since this was an introduction-thread, I thought it sounded as good a place as any to introduce myself.

As the name might imply, I am a lady, not a gentleman. As such I feel in a distinct minority around here. I guess I need to ask right off the bat if that's okay, or if this is a men's-only club.

I sure hope I'll be welcome, as I find the idea of chatting with fellas who are comfortable in skirts very attractive. I'm not looking for a bunch of cheap thrills, I just admire your courage and I wish it were a much more common practice.

Not sure what to say about myself... I live in Washington State, I have two kids, I'm a Unitarian (they're really cool and accepting folk) and right now I'm working as a volunteer art and sewing teacher with disadvantaged children in a local community center. Teaching tolerance and respect is right up there among our #1 responsibilities. When I get boys in my sewing classes, it is so great!

Anyway, hello fellas! Chat to y'all more soon.

Well, you'd have been welcome to start your very own thread, but this is good, too.

I think I speak for most (maybe all) of us in saying you are more than welcome. For one thing, the more, the merrier. For another, as a woman, you may have some perspectives that we men don't have. For example, if you have some skirt-wearing experience, you may have some tips for us beginners.

Great! Most of my skirts I've sewed myself. (SkirtDude sews skirts, too.) Maybe we can get some advice. Or even get a skirt-sewing forum started. (Keeps us males off the streets and out of trouble :) )

As for boys sewing, I learned sewing from my mother. (My father sewed too, but he didn't spend as much time showing us how.) When I was growing up (in the Ante-Bellum South :) ), other folks thought it was weird for a boy to know how to sew (or cook!), but up here in Yankee-land, it's not such a big deal.

Well, let me extend my "welcome", Emerald.

I've only been using this forum for 6 months or so but have found it to be a very friendly, tolerant place - that is populated by some (in my opinion) rather interesting people.

For me, this forum is all about sharing and fellowship. Sharing experiences of skirt wearing, sharing ideas, sharing joy or sorrow - and sharing a bit of fun sometimes - along with the fellowship that comes from having an interest in common. I really like all of that and hope that you feel able to join in here - masculinity is not a prerequisite.

Now - tell me honestly - does my bum look big in this . . . ? :D
It's never too late to have a happy childhood . . .

No! Certainly open to one and all! Another perspective is always welcome. We did have several ladies involved at one time or another, but folk come and go, for many different reasons. I was rather hoping, from the title, it might be a literal one! Those of us who travel that road are not necessarily female, you know! Mind you, I've been surprised how many people seem to assume that, being a witch, one automatically wears skirts, regardless of gender. (I suppose it ought to be 'dress', if one were to abide by popular sterotypes!). Never-the-less, please feel free to 'pitch in', as they say. There are a few subjects that are 'taboo', but there's still plenty of room for 'active' debate, I can assure you! :)

Emerald Witch,

Glad to have you here! Yes, you are absolutely more than welcome. We have a few women who are regulars on the forum, it's always great to get another perspective. Fashion freedom for men is in some ways complemetary to feminism --- especially since I don't believe you can have one without the other.

So.... grab a chair over by the potted palm, get a cup of your favorite latte, and enjoy the company!
