National Tartan Day Friday April 06

Post by r.m.anderson »

Just a reminder of: NATIONAL TARTAN DAY FRIDAY APRIL 06.
Wear your kilt or kilted skirt proudly !*!*!*!*!
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Kilted casual Friday

Great opportunity to wear a kilt to work:

"This was in Boston Post:

"The Glenlivet Scotch people are launching a ''Be a Man -- Wear a Kilt" campaign, culminating with Wear a Kilt to Work Day on April 6. That date was officially recognized by the US Senate as National Tartan Day in 1998..."

Get the word out and -- wear a kilt to work!"

I believe this is Good Friday (at least, in the USA)

1. Some offices (like mine) are closed on Good Friday. The NYSE, for instance, is closed.

2. In some interpretations of Christianity, Good Friday is a somber day. Does anyone know if people following such an interpretation would be expected to avoid bright, "happy" clothing (such as tartans) on that day?

3. In our area, at least, that week is a school holiday. Teachers won't be at work, and many parents (like me) take the week off, either to go somewhere with the kids or just because the school isn't baby-sitting them.

So, even though I have a tartan kilt, I won't have an opportunity to wear it to work on April 6.

Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in the United Kingdom so, with the weekend in the middle, I'll be wearing a kilt for four days :cheer:
