Distances
I think it all has to do with traveling and distances. If it was basically a kilt show then I probably wouldn't come even if it was close. I've been to kilt festivals (Highland games) in the USA and a lot of kilt wearers act the same as some trousers wearers when confronted by a man in a non-kilt skirt. Not all, but a lot of kilt wearers feel kilts are masculine but skirts are not. I guess they just can't wrap their minds around the dictionary definition of a kilt as a "wrap skirt".

Vegas
Vegas sounds good, right in the middle of the convention room while the World Series Of Poker Main Event is going on...I'll come!
By the way, Talon, the winner of the Seniors WSOP tournament that I was in was won by Claire Miller of Albuquerque NM. She won over 250,000 bucks. Woohoo.

Typing all in caps is considered shouting online. I see no reason for you to shout, Please explain the reason for shouting, I'm confused. Thanks.Jerseyman wrote:It would not be a HIGHLAND GAMES THING.

Count me in as long as it truly is a skirt show. I would hopefully expect to see some 'attractive' tops (ie shirts, blouses, etc.) as well. I find men's tops to be as unattractive as most pants. It's even hard to find a women's top I truly like.
I hear you, Skip, regarding the 'Highlanders'. I was in a parade on the 4th (of July/Independence Day for you non-USA'ers) wearing my custom made suede skirt and was snubbed by the 'kilted' bands. Oddly enough, half of the members of these bands were women. For those purest, I thought bagpipes and kilts were strickly a 'man's' thing. :ninjajig:

Doesn't seem odd to me at all. In recent times it seems many women want everything that has been traditionally male without giving up all/any of the things that have been traditionally female.(ie:Skirts/slips/certain shoe styles/longer fingernails etc.) I didn't say ALL women were like that but many are.Rogon wrote:Oddly enough, half of the members of these bands were women.

"Tops"?
This is one of the things that has been giving me fits. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what to do on the "upper half" that looks halfway decent other than either a Hawaiian shirt or regular mens' dress shirt. I've got my "puffy shirt", which looks quite good, and that's in my avatar at the moment, but other than that I'm at a loss.Rogon wrote:I would hopefully expect to see some 'attractive' tops (ie shirts, blouses, etc.) as well. What might you be thinking of that looks good and masculine at the same time?

Depends where it is held
How about silks and satin, collarless shirts, sweaters and polos?

In my humble opinion, many woman's tops aren't appropriate for men because they're designed to flatter the breasts. That said, I would appreciate more creative men's tops.
Meetings have happened before, the most notable being Million Skirted Men in New York City. Such a meeting, with a fashion show to boot, could draw a good number of guys. It's a LOT of work to organize, but you're welcome to do it!

I'd probably go....
I would like to go. It depends on when and where but the attempt to go would be made.
I would think that producers would be more interested in a show.
What would the objective be?
Design exposure?
Fashion sense exposure?
Alternative exposure for the public?
Would the big retailers be invited?
Would the big retailers come if invited?
Just some thoughts.
