WA state meet?

Post by boca »

Noticing how many people here are from Washington State (and Nitrox's question here: http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/showthr ... 014&page=2), I was thinking it might be cool (hint hint :)) to get togeather someplace for lunch or something. Since it is summer, the heat would be a good excuse to go skirting/kilting. I live around the Seattle area. Anyone else up for a meet?

Sounds like a plan to me. This weekend's kinda shot for me, but maybe next weekend. So, maybe on the 8th... If it winds up being hot like it was last weekend, I'll definitely be skirted. Otherwise, probably kilted.

The weekend of the 8th for me is hard to gague where I'll be. I might be busy with something all day or I might be open, but I will definitally know by middle next week. The weekend of the 15-16 I am going to be gone out of town. If need be I am available the weekend of the 22nd though.

Definitally a skirt for me will be in order. Even though it won't be here before the meet, I am hoping to order a kilt sometime in the next couple of weeks so I will have an additional option to choose from. :)

Have you stopped by Utilikilts yet? They might have something on the "scratch 'n dent" rack that would fit you, as well as possibly something in general inventory... I'm probably going to be in Seattle on Wednesday of this coming week. Have to get one of my Survival UK's pockets replaced, and make a payment on some photo gear that I'm buying. Could meet you sometime during that day at a place in Seattle, if you'd like. Otherwise, we can plan for the weekend...

Wednesday works for me. No, I haven't been by Utilikilts yet, but that is my destination to get a kilt sometime soon. Money is currently going to more urgent needs at the moment.

Looking at the various food joints around I was thinking something near the Utilikilts might be appropriate. Maggy Bluff's is a fairly good food spot about a mile towards the water from the Utilikilt building, and it's got a great outdoors area and great food from what I hear. I'm going to stop by Utilikilts in the morning so sometime during mid-day would work for me.

I was also looking to do a general gathering sometime with several of the other guys (I messanged them about it), however that will most likely be at least this weekend. However there might be some guys who are up for a wednesday meet.

That could work. Another option would be Red Mill on Dravus. Probably would want to do that after 12:30, though. It's pretty jammed in the middle of the day...

You can Ron, you've only one life, you may as well enjoy it. I'm going to Vegas next monday and plan to look around for homes for sale while I'm there. Vegas is at least as laid back as WA, "Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" is their rule of thumb. I like to gamble so I'm more keen on Nevada than WA but if I wasn't I'd be looking there instead. WA could be the first state to actually become a male skirted state. You're still young enough to have lots of skirted years ahead of you. I have probably less than 10 left. I'm 64 now and just praying for my so called normal length life of 3 score and 10. or 70.. :)
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

easyer said than done nowdays
with jobs being hard to come by and
it being expensive to travel
I would probly need enough $$ to live on for at least a year
as I do not know the job market there and what housing costs are

Red Mill might work, however from what I've read it doesn't have much sitting area. Is this your experience?

For timing, would 1:00pm work for you?

The one by the zoo tends to be a bit smaller, but the one on Dravus is a bit larger and has more seating room. 1 pm may be cutting it a bit close. We could try for earlier, though, like around 11ish... That would permit eating lunch before the rush...

If I found the time, I may take a drive across the border. I don't promise anything at this time.

bcmtnbka - If you can make it, I would love to have your company. Early boarder crossing would be recommended. :)

Kilted_John - I forgot to look at the second Red Mill location that you mentioned. Red Mill on Dravus works for me, and will make for easy travelling from Utilikilts to lunch. 11am works as well :)

Boca,

Yeah, maybe we could hit the Red Mill first, then caravan to the Utilikilts store...

Raphael, if you can make it, that'd be cool. If not, maybe next time...

I was thinking of going early before lunch, however afterwards sounds better with a full stomach.

EDIT: I also got a personal message from Nitrox about meeting, however I don't know if he'll be able to make it to this Wednesday one.

I was thinking it might be good to plan another one sometime in the next couple of weeks where more people could come.
