A day at a dog show

Post by MtnBiker »

One of my doggies was to be shown today, in a very big all-breeds show. The breeder from whom I got him has showing rights for a few more months but since this show was close by, I took him (as well as my other 2 for company). Of course I didn't handle him, the breeder did.

At the last minute this morning, I decided to wear my proper wool (though lightweight) tartan kilt. What a good move! Many of the ladies who deal with these dogs had already seen me in it since I sometimes work at another local dog show, but I got to meet literally dozens of folk. 100% positive reaction when there was a reaction at all. One old-ish lady asked me what the tartna was and then told me her son had asked for a Utilikilt for Christmas.

Gosh it sure was a comfy day out. Going back for more tomorrow.

Sounds like a great success all around, MtnBiker! How'd your dog do at the show? :)

He did just fantastic, 2nd place.
Personally, the dog show scene seems kinda otherworld-ish and tangential to reality, at best -- as do human beauty contests. I was there only to support the lady from whom my dog came and she is such a wonderful lady.
My dog (as well as my other 2, not shown) had such a good time that it would have been wrong to not them experience it.
