Anyone using E.G. Smiths?
Anyone using E.G. Smiths?
I bought a pair of black E.G. Smith tights on a menswear site. I did like the fit, however after only 2 days of usage, they came apart in the groin area.
Has anyone else here had that happen, or am I just out of luck getting a badly manufacturered pair?
Im well aware that these are 'onesize', but they bragg so much about how they "fit anyone" and their site even includes a tall guy modelling them...I wonder...

That does sound shoddy. My first thought would be that the crotch is not designed for a man's anatomy if they are produced for women but since the model is a man I'd say contact the company. Many places will quickly replace them or give a refund because they would rather hear you praising the manufacturer for a good response than selling bad products.

Enlighten me here - what is the difference between men's tights (cost expensive) to women's tights (cheap).
A while ago Wolford had some men's waist socks for sale at AU$150 - I really couldn't tell the difference between them and black opaques at AU$7.
Personally I find that cotton tights are fine to wear under pants or skirts - they keep you warm and I never have noticed the gender of them. In fact a conservative minister (religion) has OK'ed them for men to wear them too... these are guys who are really strict on gender and clothing.

I'm wondering if the expensive male versions are the high cost of modesty for the man who would be too shy to purchase the brands marketed to women. You only need a few reticent men at that price to turn a profit if the same product is being sold.
It may be a sizing issue in part, the same company turning out hose for women won't be set up to make a version for a six foot four body. If that tall man has slim thighs the version sold to women might do with the length coming from the unused thigh space stretched into height instead. That still leaves tall and large men with nude legs or out a lot of money.
Perhaps those guys can find inexpensive tights on sites or stores selling typically female shoe styles in sizes to fit men.
