And it seems like the 200th birthday was so recent!

1976, to be exact. I recall marching in several celebratory parades on 1976 for the Bicentennial.

But shortly thereafter, the experiment failed and the whole house of cards collapsed, leading directly to where we are now. I was once proud to be a United States Citizen; now I'm ashamed.

What ever happened to the ability to "agree to disagree" and to do so civilly? We lost more than we bargained for when that happened.

I knew a person who was approaching their birthday but was riddled with cancer. The anticipation was more poignant than celebratory.
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.
