Girls vs Boys Soccor

Post by mr seamstress »

Girls again has proven they are no match in sports. Making snickers or snide remarks making them stronger as a team. When will boys learn and treat them full respect?

This is a fine example of discrimination - Girls can/may do anything.
Boy's are 'not allowed' as they may injure the girls, are stronger
than the girls, in what ever "sport" they're playing. Field hockey and
Lacrosse have both men's and women's teams yet, I've never seen a
"mixed" team. The men's teams are not(so far) allowed to play against
the women's teams.

This still holds true -
"Girls can do anything -- Boys must stay in 'their boxes' "

QUESTION: When will someone support achievements of boys for
doing something 'normally' reserved for girls :?:

I have been waiting years for this day and it never seems to come. Girls can join the boy scouts. Why can’t boys join the girl scouts? I just saw a news program last week about girls playing on Little League Baseball Teams. It happens quite often

I had kids in in brownies, beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers. I also did leading with scouts and generally helped out. This is to say I got quite close with the organisation.

I found brownies to be impossible, I could barely bring myself to drop off my daughter. The leader was very distant and authoritarian. I drew the line when I was 'told' me they were going to France and how much I had to pay. I said she's eight and she isn't going to France without her family. They also had a cosmetics evening and started applying all sorts of cosmetics to the girls. My daughter broke out because she had sensitive skin. I asked her if she enjoyed brownies, she said no and I took her to cubs.

As for the gender issue with scouting I asked about that with the scouts. They of course had little to say other than apparently girls need space to be girls but also must be allowed to join scouts because it would be sexist if they couldn't join. My local scouts even had an evening to teach boys about "inclusivity".

It drives me mad. I've had some frank and open conversations with feminists on this subject bordering on flaming rows. The answer is "women experienced similar treatment for many many years. It's just the pendulum swinging for women at the moment, it will swing back eventually".

Victoria in Australia has appointed a secretary for men's behaviour change. This is good news for women, I agree. 80% of Australian suicides are men. Nothing is being done about that.

There isn't all that much difference between boys and girls pre-puberty, except perhaps in terms of aggression. Once boys gain their adolescent strength, the differences become stark.

This match came to mind: "Arsenal Women's pre-season preparations got off to a rocky start after they were beaten 5-0 by the boys' U15 side in a friendly. The match - which saw winger Chido Obi score a hat-trick - took place behind closed doors as last season's Women's Super League runners-up began preparations for the new season."

The reason for the men’s suicides is how they are treated as second class citizens by society. In many TV commercials and movies they are portrayed as buffoons. men are confined to the Man-Box regarding emotional expression and physical expression in the form of dress. Step out of line and other men and women will try to put you firmly back in the Man-Box.

One of the issues is the most men do not realize what is happening to them and simply accept the treatment incorrectly believing that they have the upper hand simply because they are male. Unfortunately the joke is on them, and they are too naive to realize it, or simply don’t care.

In the US, most suicides are by men. Most suicide attempts are by women. Men choose more effective methods.

That statistic gives us the impression that suicide is just as prevalent among women as it is among men. It is not. It is due to the expectations put on men.

https://www.priorygroup.com/blog/why-ar ... mongst-men

According to link in the study above the reason men are commiting suicide is "man box" related. That is:

- men's role in society
- communication
- financial pressures

This is because men tend to act with intent and are thus more likely to succeed in the endeavour. In women, it tends to be the classic "cry for help" -- which is something men do not have the option of because of their social status, and thus complete the act.

Men are also likely to get deeper into trouble than women because there are no support systems for them. They are left on their own and to their own devices.

What’s all this then?

I played in a mixed (field) hockey team for about ten years (as well as playing mens’ hockey). There were two local leagues of mixed teams. It worked well, and we all bonded well socially.

In a way. There are support systems. Here, in rural Illinois, I have three good options: my church, the local hospital, and an independent mental health center. But men tend not to connect with the available support systems as frequently as women do.

Jim -- That's good to hear that there are support structures for men in Illinois. Kudos. But, yes, men tend not to make use of them, which is very, very sad.

Men do not make use of them, why? Is it because men are taught from a young age to be strong and not to cry? Consequently they think to themselves "I can cope" "I'm not crying about it" "I don't have mental problems". They talk about the good things like sport, things they can connect with others. They drink and that makes worse. They push down things nobody will understand and persuade themselves they are fine.
They know that nobody cares and the medical services are pushed to their limits.

In Manchester we used to have a very strong mixed hockey league, with cups and trophies, not sure if it's still going, it's the same league that Ray referes to. I play in a summer mixed league - well I did until my knee packed in - for seniors (over 35's); and I'm pretty sure schools and colleges with suitable pitches play mixed hockey! OH, and when It's warm I play in a skirt, of course!!
