When I clicked, the photos rotated automatically, so no problem.
Amazingly good work! Not keen on the white hem, but that is a mere detail; otherwise, just the style I could wear.
Congratulations!

Re: latest creation
looks good, well done, i wish i could create stuff like that, alas i'm not good with cutting patterns and sewing machines etc
i actually like the white hem, i also think that having a version of this that is pleated all the way round would look good too

When I made my first kilt I thought it would be difficult, then I realised all you need to do is be able to measure, cut and sew in a straight line. No pattern to follow, just get your measurements right.Reaper_Man wrote:looks good, well done, i wish i could create stuff like that, alas i'm not good with cutting patterns and sewing machines etc
Re: latest creation
That's a wonderful skirt and one that I would wear. You give me the encouragement to learn but the phrase "sew in a straight line" covers a lot of ground. It's like saying that you can spray a car by filling up the paint container and wafting it around in the general direction of said vehicle!!!! Well, MOH has unearthed her sewing machine and I have told her that I want to make some skirts culminating with a proper plain utility-kilt like garment with pockets and so on and she has not raised any objections and has even said that she would help me to learn. Maybe progress????

Re: latest creation
sewing in a straight line ... that in itself may well be the problem, my sewing skills just about stretch to sewing a button on something, give me something technical like a computer or household appliance etc and i'll strip it down, clean it, fix it if needed and rebuild it and won't even have any screws left at the end
..... but sewing, now that's a totally different kettle of fish

If an old truck mechanic from Dewsbury can do it, I'm sure anybody can.

I know the feeling - still doesn't stop me soldering PCB's - with 4X glasses!Sinned wrote:mlsv, My confidence took a hit the other day whr=en it took several minutes to even thread the needle!!!! Oh, the deterioration in near sight with age!
I too am impressed with this DIY kilt.
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.
Re: latest creation
Normally near things such as reading or intricate work don't bother me but I am also blind in my right eye due to an accident when I was 10 years old. So the combination of lack of 3D perception at close quarter and the needing to use glasses for close work proved difficult. Normally 3D doesn't present a problem either as I still think that I see in 3D 99% of the time and objects don't appear flat but still appear to have depth to me - it's just in one or two exceptional circumstances that it is apparent that my 3D is faulty. I have researched one-sighted 3D vision and it's not what you think but a very complex issue.

i suffer the same problem as sinned, blind in my right eye (from birth) and my near sightedness is not what it used to be, threading needles is a nightmare
