The boy in a dress

Post by Sinned »

I was in ASDA last night and they had a display of books with the offer of 3 for £10. One of the books was by David Walliams and entitled "The Boy in a Dress". From a quick glance it actually was about a boy of about 12 wearing a dress - on page 115 it's a blue dress that's really a party type dress. The coincidence for me is that the boy's name is Dennis. I was tempted to buy it but had difficulty finding two other books to buy. From what little snippets I read the story appeared to be sensitively treated and not at all a negatively slanted story. Anyone else out there read it? I may purchase it for my Kindle if it's not too expensive? Is this a turning point in the treatment of fashion freedom? It's small events such as this that provide pivotal moments in changes in attitudes.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

I bought this book from Amazon in Kindle format for $6.99. It's a book for and about 12-14 year olds, quite unbelievable, but well-written and fun nevertheless.

Dennis, the dress-wearer, does have some problems with rejection, but other people do support him and (surprise) everything turns out OK at the end. It's a fun little read.
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.
