Wearing skirts for solo gigs

I had a thread going about the desire to wear long skirts when doing gigs in a rock band I was in. Well, that band fell through but I am a bass player in another growing rock band now. This band will have nothing to do with anything remotely close to a kilt. I managed to bring the subject up with a kilt; there will be no way. We have already done one gig with more lined up. I still enjoy playing in a band more than most things.

So I have been thinking of writing songs to play on my acoustic and sing on open mic nights. (More than anything else I want to wear long skirts out and about. I guess I am one of the few on this site that does not wear them publicly, yet. I do want to get a real nice kilt soon from just up the highway in Seattle.) I believe it would really be a unique image.

Thank you all for the advice and encouragement on the previous thread I had. I was thinking of continuing on that last thread, but this has to do with "solo", rather than a rock band.

Well Skirt82, I'd suggest a less expensive kilt from
Stillwater Kilts and it is more of a traditional kilt,
easy to care for, and for the price of one from 'up north'
you can get two kilts from SWK. I do recommend that
you take your waist size then subtract 1 number from it.
The SWK will expand so if your waist size is a 44, it will
expand to a 46 or 47. This way if you lose a few pounds,
you can still wear the kilt and not have to really rely on
a belt to keep the kilt from going south on you
The only way it can get smaller is to have the buckles and
straps moved by a seamstress/tailor.

I really want to wear a utilikilt on gigs with the new band. I kind of hinted to it and I
do not believe it is going to happen. I still have to go purchase one of course.
I also have three long skirts in my closet that the wife does not know about, lol.

It seems to me that it might be best to take the opportunity, before your wife finds those long ones in your wardrobe, to come clean. You know your wifr best and she, in her turn, knows your character and 'soul' so to speak. My better half was more than a little disconcerted an wondered aloud if I was gay but now is totally supportive.
My granddaughter was made school captain last year and, understandably, did plead that I wear trousers for the event. Of course I did! Otherwise, the whole family is behind me, though my daughter does say "you're a bit of a dag".

There have been some strange things I told her about me before we got married.
She has been supportive in everything. I have a feeling this will be no issue.
Still, it will be a step though.
