Uncle Al,
That's great! I was hoping that you would pick up on this. And the owner is willing to donate it to the right group. Yippee!!

Re: Pipe Organ for Sale
But what about this wonderful beastie? This one deserves to live, too, and to be played again.
Note: In a linked bit from the above the "Showcase Cinema" (also known as "Old Poli's") is now The Hanover Center for the Performing Arts and the home of a "Mighty Wurlitzer" theatre organ (and a fine beast if I do say so, having heard it in performance). Somehow I rather suspect that we'll never hear the old "Aud" beast roar again.
The "Aud" was spared the indignity of becoming part of the courthouse; a brand-spanking new one was built a few blocks away about four or five years ago. So, the old structure just sits there, decaying in the elements and still (perhaps) housing its prize feature.
Given an unlimited budget I'd give 'em both a home -- and a space to play in -- but I don't have an unlimited budget. I can barely keep my computers under a roof.

Re: Pipe Organ for Sale
Talking of pipe organs for sale, I had the pleasure of visiting the 840 year-old Collegiate Church of St Mary in Youghal (1172), Co. Cork two days ago. Our guide explained that the pipe organ (pic) was bought on E-bay from somewhere in Bristol, arrived like an IKEA flat-pack in bits and they had to get an expert to put it all together only two years ago, fits into that archway splendidly & looks like it's been there for yonks! She didn't volounteer what it cost.
Youghal is a seaside former port of some importance until ships got too big for its silting river estuary front. The Irish Summer was doing its June best when we arrived there, & continued for 3 days......driving rain, wind force 7-9, temps max. 9 or 10 degrees Celsius. Who in their right mind would ever go on holiday here, & yet the place was crawling with Germans & Americans!
