Burns £2 coin

Just found a £2 coin in my loose change commemorating 250 years since Rabbie Burns Birth in 1759 - has an inscription which says, "We'll tak a cup o kindness yet for auld lang syne"

Anyone else found one or noticed that they existed? Think I'll keep it safe anyway!

(ps Thankfully it isn't the Anglicised version "... for the sake of auld lang syne" which is of course quite incorrect!)

will only be worth the metal in them not what is stamped on the outside !

I have the cigarette ash compartment on the lower dashboard of my trusty old Merc. stuffed with loose change. I popped it out today looking for some gold Duckets or Doubloons or such like. Alas, it contained nothing more exciting than copper Euro cents, which are magnetic, so there's a fair lot of iron in them.

I successfully annoyed Tesco's staff by paying cash into one of their new automatic check-out machines, solemly throwing 1c., 2c. & 5c. coins in there to make up several euros, which bought me my lunch!.

There's now plenty of space in my 'ashtray' for high-value coins and I am open to donations. Queue this side, please...

On a cruise I took to Europe back in '07, I came back with £46.40, and 61¢ Euro [don't know if there's an ASCII code for the Euro]. When I lived in Tucson Arizona for 6 years, I met a girl from England who gave me a £1 note and she wrote on it, "To Rick, please keep 'til you come to England." Since the £1 note was taken out of circulation in 1988, I don't plan on spending it. Not sure if it's worth any more than face value, though. I would very much like to go back to the UK and Ireland eventually so I'm hanging on to my currency!

I also took a trip to Victoria and Vancouver BC and came back with $44.75 Canadian. In the course of going through my currency, I also found $1.15 Australian and some coins from Singapore, Malta, and the Philippines. I have no idea where those coins came from!

ASCII code is hexadecimal = 80 so of course binairy = 10000000.

I find that to get the Euro symbol in Word, I use CTRL + ALT + E (not 5 as noted above) then copy and paste here et voila -> €

Using the same keys directly in this forum, you get é ...

On notes from foreign lands, I'm sure I still have some Libyan Dinars...

My keyboard was bought in 1999, three years before the € started circulating, and it has a € sign on the 4 key (though I do live in the eurozone). If yours doesn't, and you're using Linux (i.e. most of us ), you can most likely get it using the sequence "Compose E =" (where Compose usually means one of the otherwise-useless "logo" keys). Loads more characters are available using fairly obvious sequences.

Perhaps a separate keyboard may have € on key 4 but despite the fact that I am in the €zone too I have a new Compaq laptop with $ on the 4 key.

Still, CTRL+ALT > 5 works perfect on my laptop.
