Windy Scotland

Post by STEVIE »

Aye, guys you would have been brave indeed to wear a skirt outdoors in Scotland today.
102 M.P.H. recorded in Edinburgh. A bit of destruction, a lot of inconvenience.
Yet, as I write, it has moderated to a mere breeze, at least, here on the East Coast.
On the whole the U.K. climate is quite boring, even if it has some "moments". Compare this to other climes, devestating floods, tornadoes and hurricanes, not to mention tsunamis and earthquakes.
Who wants an "interesting" climate?
This is not meant to be totally glib, my thoughts do go to the family of the man killed in England when a falling tree crushed the car he was in.
I also have sympathy for anyone who has had their home damaged and perhaps, no way to affect repairs.
Hope that you are all safe and warm and dry.
Steve.

I'm way down south & the gusts & rain were quite incredible. Considering they were worse in other parts of the country I'm glad I'm here.
I have lived in other places & this was as bad as any stormy day in a trawler off the Devon coast, too.
If it's as bad tomorrow I'll take a pic of me withe a skirt, just to show the extent of the wind.

Hope it's windy tomorrow. :P

Here is a quick clip of the storm on the West coast, bearing in mind that this isn't open water, it is in the Clyde estuary:

Does walking from my car to Asda's door count? The shop is in quite an exposed spot, near the sea, though the wind had died down a lot by the time I was there. Generally I'm more worried about the citizens of Ardrossan than its wind!
Keep on skirting,

Aye!, I can see that you took that clip from your 'Wee Boat' riding to sea anchor in the Firth, B&B. We had a pine tree come down, taking a section of fence with it in the night, and our two compleat donkey escapees had to be followed and rounded up, keeping me late for work this morning. Fortunately nothing more serious.

Shot taken from a road above Kilcreggan. Initial estimates are something like 100 trees down in our area alone. Worst blow for some years.

Hopefully the little guys are OK and not too frightened.

Well, it was windy today. Here's me during a walk across the dark & dreadful moors, here in Surrey.
It's a light cotton, with a couple of bands of Indian macrame & a few sequins on that, but you can't really see them.
Leggings compliment the skirt & make it warmer to walk in. :D
