Just found this at a charity shop.
I'd been looking for a denim skirt, but they were always too long, too short or too girly.
Then I found this which I think is just right. Plain and simple, but with 3 small pleats at the back -- a nod toward trad kilts, which I think is fun -- and they give plenty of leg-room.
Interesting MUG, Martin. Fits well about the waist and is a good length too. Pity there are no pockets, though.
I've found a site:<www.makeyourownjeans.com>, which has a custom skirt section and I am negotiating for them to make me one the right length and flare and with nice deep pockets. The only problem is they seem only to use leather, albeit in a wide range of colours, and at a price + postage from the US of A.

Just looked at the site, at the bottom of the skirts section there are several denim skirts, so it looks a strong possibility.

Looks good Martin, even if I myself should have preferred a skirt somewhat wider for comfort - I guess the pleats are placed too low for a really free movement? - and shorter.
Reading further into that 'makeyourown' site they invite you to choose any material on the website to make a skirt out of. That includes Chino khaki and all sorts of plaids, corduroys &c. I hadn't looked that far.
Where they invite you to state the desired flare, they presumably will make the garment whatever shape you like.

With regard to gender, the first box asks for whom the garmet is to be made. Put 'self' in, and it's obvious you'll be wearing it .

The waist sits high like a kilt and did not have any noticeable closing ?
Presume that it fastens closed with a zipper in the center back - none visable on the traditional left side or front.
You have photos from the front and the left side showing the three pleats at or near the hem.
Does it also three pleats on the right side - balanced effect ?

Yes the denim skirt is a little too long -- but that may be because I am a little too short. No, there are no pockets, but since I usually have a rucksack, that does not worry me. When I don't need anything else, I hang my key chain from my belt (can't see a belt? well, I'll wear one if I need one for my keys!)
There's a (dare I say it?) feminine zip on the right hand side. The 3 pleats are purely decorative, and not symmetrical. In fact, they were sewn down and gave no leaway at all. I un-sewed them to make them more like kilt pleats that move. Plenty of room -- I've been out walking in it and I think I could even use it on the cycle.
I forgot to add : it was priced at 2 €, and looks unused.
Gosh! If I was going to lay out that sort of money on a MUG I'd do a bit of careful research first....like establish proof of ownership from the Vendor &c. &c. I must say Eur 2.00 beats all other options hands down, short pleats or no!
Not another new MUG skirt, just a new picture of me in one of my favorite kilts.
It's so unusual for anyone to take my picture (not counting all those that get taken behind my back by total strangers) that I can presume either :
Men in kilts/skirts have become so commonplace that no-one thinks they are pciture-worthy.
or :
No-one expects to see me in anything but a skirt, so they take no notice.
or :
I'm just not picturesque.
Please note colour-coordination -- not always easy with multi-colour tartan.
I'd say quite the opposite -- that rig is a masterwork, and you "fill it well".
Right from the ascot (for the win, in my opinion!) to the kilt hose, everything coordinates well (and even with some of the backdrop), fits very well, and presents a fine polished appearance. Top marks plus a bonus for the ascot.

You're a handsome looking so-an'-so, and with your fine slim figure anything would look well on you, especially that outfit. Right on the button and eminently photographable.
Re: the background: There was the joke here about a new paint job they'd done on one of our old Victoran-metal city stations....all pink & grey ( nice too). But a railway official approached this lady all dolled up in bright orange & asked her if she wouldn't mind moving further down the platform, as her attire clashed with the new colour scheme!!
The young person kneeling on the seat also seems to be wearing a kilt. Is it a boy or girl?
