Black Friday 4/15/11

Post by Since1982 »

On Friday the 15th of April 2011, our US Government told us citizens in one more way that we, as a group were not, in their eyes, trustworthy and banned US players from playing on online Poker Sites all over the world with only 5 foreign sites out of over 1,000 sites fighting them and still accepting US players.

Personally, any US player that gives his/her hard earned jack to a foreign site in the hopes that they everget any of it back is living in a dream world.

On Saturday the 16th the FBI and US Government seized ALL US players' money in all Poker sites. (I lost $204.73). On May 8th 2011, the Government relented and allowed the poker sites to return all monies in the banks of US players. I got my check yesterday (overnight service) and deposited it today. I guess the Gov realized we players would not be spending OUR monies in OUR country where WE live unless they released it.

The lawsuits go on regarding US Poker sites being allowed to open back up and letus again do what we want with our money. Any future news I'll add to this epistle.

I was playing on Pokerstars.net , just for fun stuff and taking advantage of the freerolls. I have a wagering account for horse racing and even that has been questioned by the goverment boneheads. I find it a violation of my freedom when I'am told what I can or cannot do with my money. I hope the poker sites are fighting this attack by goverment bullies.

An addition to what is going on with payouts from the poker sites to the players. As of now, Poker Stars.com is the only site giving money back to it's USA players. I know this because they sent me mine by paper check. I have money in both Fulltilt and UltimateBet.com but they are quiet as churchmice when you ask for your money. :blue:

It's not often Poker makes front page news in Ireland, but I thought this might be of some interest, Skip.

Thanks, but I've been watching the streaming video live game for 4 days on ESPN 206 and O'Dea is, or was mopping up the place, at the final day where they dropped the last player to have left the final 9 for the November 5th final, a player from one of the ex-soviet bloc countries, Martin Stasko, was in first. But your guy, O' Dea was in second. Let's hope he wins a bunch of dollars. :D :D Personally, I'm rooting for Ben Lamb, who I know personally and have played with at a Tunica, Mississippi tournament. :D :D

It's about taxes, Skip! The internet has been a thorn in the governments side since it bagan.
Like the old, wild west (of fable, not reality) there was no way for various government bodies to reap a reward by taxing it or controling it. And that is what our current government has become, a huge, regulating body eager to snatch away every dollar we have coming to us. So they banned US players from on line gambling because they can't get foreign governments to collect taxes on your winning for the US. They want you to go to the casinos locally so you have to pay taxes. That's all it is!
In my state of Illinois they have passed a law requiring sales tax be paid on all internet purchases. But the there's no sales taxes being collected over the internet. The law reads that we citizens will be liable to pay this tax ourselves. What a screwy idea (this is the goof ball state that gave the country Obama).
Did you know that there is a banking tax about to be passed. They are timing it for AFTER the November elections. In it the Federal government will begin collecting a 1% transaction fee on ALL banking transactions. You put your paycheck in the bank, you have to pay 1% to do this. Write a check, 1% of the amount gets paid to the feds. The banks will go crazy holding out funds to pay for all this so they will pass costs on to each and every one of us.
This country is sick and getting sicker.
Vote against ever one in office next election. Kick all of them out!

UPDATE! My previous assumption of the reason for stopping USA players from playing online was incorrect. The FBI is not stopping us as a group, they are stopping certain sites from allowing USA players on their sites until the cases against them are settled. It seems that some sites, mainly PokerStars.com, FullTiltPoker.com and AbsolutePoker.comhave been practicing money laundering and other various illegal activities such as bank fraud etc. We USA players are just stopped from playing on those sites until the court cases are settled. Meanwhile, other online poker sites that are NOT involved in these activities are accepting USA players for real money play.
