I got this picture from the Oprah magazine. I really like this type of uniform outfit. It could be in black or gray and with a jacket. I am sure variation on this would great for a guy. I really like the pleated skirt.

Re: Like this outfit
I have a skirt very much like that one except mine is gray. I bought it online from Lands' End. It wasn't until after I received it that I found out they called it a uniform skirt and also sold it in their school clothing area of their site. I bought it from the regular adult woman's skirt area. Obviously they list the same item in several areas. It creeped me out a bit when I found a hang tag on the skirt pointing out the adjustment feature in the waistband that would let you adjust it as your daughter grew during the year.

The fact is junior skirts fit men the best. Because men do not have hips like women do. The length shown in the picture is what I consider my favorite length for a skirt especially a pleated skirt. Just above the knee

But the young women that they are marketed to don't have waistlines like we old geezers do, either. I'd need two of those "juniors" skirts to fit around my waist once. And if they stop several inches above the knee on 14-year-old girls (as in the picture), imagine how high they'd be on most of us here.jeanfor wrote:The fact is junior skirts fit men the best. BTW, I also bought one of those Lands' End pleated skirts. It's a nice idea and it's big enough around, but doesn't fit me all that well otherwise, and it doesn't have any pockets. If I ever run out of other sewing projects, I'll alter it to make it more wearable: pockets, "beer-gut correction", and a lining.

This is not true for everybody. I am a short guy 5`8`and have short legs quite like the girl in the picture. No beer stomach so 28`- 30`waist works awesome for me. The only disadvantage of having short legs is that most standard men kilt lengths are too long and I have to get the length shorter. As far as pockets are concerned, I have one plaid pleated skirt with pockets and I love it a lot for that. And the pockets are big enough to put my wallet cell phone and car keys. I am not too crazy about having to have a sporran around my waist. I am not too crazy about linings

Exactly my point! "We men" come in all varieties, shapes, and sizes. (As do women. As do, for that matter, furry little creatures. But I digress....)jeanfor wrote:This is not true for everybody.
I'm so glad we can agree on something!

I agree on that one.I wear a lot of high-waisted skirts and they fit me.AMM wrote:Exactly my point! "We men" come in all varieties, shapes, and sizes. (As do women. As do, for that matter, furry little creatures. But I digress....)jeanfor wrote:This is not true for everybody.

There is nothing worse than double standard!
