Thanks for finding that fashion report, Irishguy. The positive message is important, now if only they could have come up with more attractive looking skirts! that green one with tan pockets buttoned to the side and hanging down was certainly different. The one with shorts looked nicest to me but that is really for the man who is only doing it for fashion instead of comfort. Perhaps the crowd reactions were the best part, especially the guy at the end. :D

I thought the response by the large black fellow was very odd indeed..

When asked what he thought of skirts for men his response was>> "It's cool, it's trendy, it's good."

When asked if HE would wear a skirt his response was diametrically opposite. "No, I'm a man".

Duhh..hmm I wish he'd explained what exactly he meant by that. :alien: :alien:

It was great to find, maybe with time it will be more accepted for guys to cross that gender divide, This gives a positive slant on things and can only do the whole movement good.

Although when you see designers like Jacques Esterel back in 1966 launching skirts and it never really taking off then one wonders, However i think we are more accepting now.

Although it is intresting to see the guy in a skirt and the woman in the trousers. Although very trendy for back but in some ways copied from traditional scottish dress of that time, but then again his shoes look fairly femme :D

I guess its a mind set and really and its what you are used to, And I think we reinvent as time goes on no more that 21st century kilt modernising the look.

However the main thing that will kill the whole skirt for guys thing is the price, If designers charge over the odds then it will be very few that will partake. but i think its a fairly ripe time for this to take place, When you see hire shops stocking kilts here now where a few years ago it was considered un cool to wear a kilt unless you had to. Although i think sadly it will take a few more years before general skirt acceptance for men happens.

Although personally give me a skirt or kilt anyday.

I like the video! Though I'd probably opt for a skirt without shorts underneath, but any push towards men in skirts is good in my book.

I'd have to agree that men's skirts that I have seen tend to be on the expensive side, which it would be nice if they made cheaper ones.
Wearing a skirt makes everything fun!

A few thoughts....

Post by renesm1 »

Again H&M making its decadal attempt at a man skirt but really why the shorts underneath? To me that is a pair of shorts with an apron.

It seems that most of the comments are really positive (if some a little illogical). This is good.

I'd like to find a link for Hiatus - those skirts seem interesting enough.

And why are the French so organised when it comes to creating an association for men in skirts? Does it have a membership and constitution?

I almost didn't say this because it sort of seems we're picking on you, but we do need to be aware of what we say at times, so I'm forced to make note of what I see. Wearing a skirt or dress does not change one's gender.......... Garment's cover our equipment/gender, no change needed...

I don't want to cross the gender divide. I'm perfectly happy with my gender, just not so much with the easy choice of today's garment that society has put upon us. I just want to wear what's comfortable for me without question of motives.

Okay, that's my 2 cents for the moment.

Hi Tom, I was not inferring that guys should dress as girls but that we would be allowed the same clothing rights as females, for example its cute when my older sister wore my dads shirts or his sweater, But god forbit I might wear something of my mothers or my sisters.
However when it suited everyone it was quite all right to sick me in a kilt.
Women can dress how they want and act how they want, its ok for a woman to act butch but for a guy to act femme is a different matter.
I was not suggesting wearing a skirt or dress should change anyones gender, If you take a pair of denim jeans or a denim skirt both are the same denim cloth but cut and sewn differenly now cut it and sew it slightly differently and suddenly you have a denim kilt, its still cloth at the end of the day, does it change your gender only if your want to do that. Western society is hung up on clothes, go to other countries in the world and skirt like garments are quite normal for guys.
So when i refere to the gender devide its the different rules for both genders.

A number of years ago women fought to wear trousers, now they can !.
Trousers were designed years ago to allow horseback riding and things like that, Now we drive cars, work in offices and where I belive a skirt is totally unsuitable for certain things for a lot of day to day jobs there would be nothing wrong with a skirt regardless of gender.
Yes if your are welding or climbing trousers do have advantages, But if you sit behind a desk all day there is nothing wrong with a skirt.

i am quite happy being male, but i dont want to be a crossdresser either, What i do want is if i decide to wear a skirt, dress, kilt for whatever reason that it is ok in peoples mind rather than being a object of mockery.

But I think the devide or maybe a better word would be Line is closing, and in time i think skirts will be accepted.

I guess i am lucky that I was exposed to skirt like garments as a kid and teens, at first I actually did not like it and was somewhat horrified, and had all the toughts what would my friends thing and so on, Then suddenly you are wearing the garment and at first you are uneasy but you get on with it and then in time its just another part of your clothes, And thats all they are to cover and protect the body.
I think we need more males to experience that or at least people to pave the way to get the whole concept accepted, In ways its very regional what would be fine in certain countries would not be accepted in others.

I suppose what i am trying to say live and let live, be happy be comfortable.

But we have those rights now, no one has been arrested for their clothing choices in quite a while. It's only the way some people "think" about our clothing choices that we want to change. You can wear anything you please almost anywhere as long as what you wear is covering your private parts. In the USA, you can have anyone arrested for fighting you or attacking you or discriminating against you in any way. :D
