Skirts that look like sarongs.

Post by HockeySkirt »

Hey guys ... I'm hoping for some product recommendations from the esteemed members here :D

I'm looking for a regular (woman's) skirt, that looks like a reasonably masculine sarong.

What I mean is that, whilst I have had no problem finding a sarong that, due to its pattern and finishing, is not 'too feminine' for a guy, many regular skirts of similar dimensions have patterns or trimmings that are a little too feminine.

Why not a sarong? ... simply I dislike tying them!

Does anyone have any product recommends for regular skirts that look like masculine sarongs?

Thanks in advance.

I don't like the tie part myself so my wife put some hook fasteners on the waist of my sarongs and made them a wrap skirt.

What I have done is got a Kikoy (an African style of sarong made from striped cotton), chopped it to the desired length, and stitched a length of tape (between 3 and 4 metres, depending on your size) along the top edge, like an apron. To wear it, wrap the sarong as normal, bring the tapes around your back to the front, and tie the tapes together. Works very well.

I have found a few wrap skirts at a Thrift store, and in both cases, I have to reposition a button so it fits my size. Given that both are nothing more than a rectangular piece of fabric, with a tie at one position and a button at another, then they're pretty easy to make for yourself.
