Progress - Skirts and Spousal
Progress - Skirts and Spousal
Thought I would update all of you on my effort to wear skirts and kilts while at the same time, keep peace in the family.
Of late, I have been wearing my kilt to our regular Friday night outing at the Whole Foods Wine Tasting. My wife has grown to expect this and says she doesn't even notice it anymore. So, last week, I brought up the topic of skirts with her. I told her I still like skirts, that hasn't changed despite the fact she hasn't seen me in one even around the house of late. She said she had hoped that I lost interest and that kilts were perhaps "enough". So, we let it drop there for a week.
We also attend a class every Thursday night and I asked her if she minded if I wore my long blue skirt, I said "no pressure, just think about it while you are out and about shopping today". Well, just prior to class she said "wear what you want". I wore the blue skirt (it's a fav cause it's comfortable and doesn't look at all femmy (in my opinion)) to the class. Anyway, no one said anything at the class and wife seemed OK during the class. After returning home, I asked her about it and how it went for her. She said it was OK, didn't bother her. This is good news because on such attempts in the past, I have seen her so nervous that she has torn napkins up into tiny little squares -- all night long!
I also told her I wasn't going to rub her face in it , but I will keep inching forward, but take it very slow.
This is progress, I like being with her and don't want to upset the apple cart over something so trivial as a garment.

If you have a family and do care for family members, you can't afford to make any revolutions. Step-by-step approach seams to be the best for me too. I was kilted couple of time outside home walls, never in skirt yet. But I remember when I strapped the kilt for first time, she touched my forehead to see if I'm OK. Now, she just gives a funny comment from time to time even if the thing I wear only looks like a kilt. It takes time, but is less stressful for family members.
