Men in Kilts More Common than Women in Skirts
At my Scottish Country Dance class earlier this evening, I noticed that out of almost forty people, I was one of four men wearing kilts, while only one woman was wearing a skirt, all the others were wearing trousers. It is happening gradually, people are slowly realising trousers best suit the female anatomy, while kilts are healthier and more comfortable for men.

That's better than ten percent! -- and that is not just "statistically significant", it's "statistically compelling". If the mix of men to women was 50-50, the percentage hits 20. That's huge!cessna152towser wrote:At my Scottish Country Dance class earlier this evening, I noticed that out of almost forty people, I was one of four men wearing kilts [...]
And I suspect that's the statistical norm. It's sad, of course, at least in my opinion because I think that skirts look better on most folks than trousers, but ... expected.[...] while only one woman was wearing a skirt, all the others were wearing trousers.
In any event, a very positive sign! Thanks so much for mentioning it!

Well, the statistics is an science which can prove two different things from the same sett of data (so I was told)
But I agree with you that this is significant and I agree that maybe trouser are more fit for women anatomy but women do look more appealing in skirts.

Everyone looks more appealing in whatever is the most comfortable for them. If you're comfortable, you're happy, and look appealing. How do we know trousers aren't favored by women because they are more comfortable than a skirt for them? I'd not want to suggest anyone wear anything because it's fashionable but not comfortable. The Victorian Age was all about that. Thank the powers that be that it's mostly over.

Well, I find trousers more comfortable, especially in the cold weather. In really hot weather I like wearing the simple dresses that I own.How do we know trousers aren't favored by women because they are more comfortable than a skirt for them?

Whereas I find trousers, and especially jeans, mostly unbearable, and am much more comfortable in a skirt, even in cold weather. It's a matter of personal taste, really. I think nowadays women associate skirts with dressing up, and formality, and question the idea of wearing a skirt in a casual (or even chore-related) setting. My friends have become accustomed to my eccentric habit of wearing a skirt to do pretty much everything, including dirty work; I just don't wear anything approaching a fancy or formal skirt to do those sorts of jobs. I have to admit to a personal feeling that people of both sexes look better in skirts or MUGs of some sort than in trousers, but that's a broad generalization, and Just Me. And it doesn't mean I either think people look bad in pants, nor that I would criticize anyone for wearing them. Why, some of my best friends wear trousers...
