Nice positive item (some of those locals probably had whiplash injuries straining their necks to watch the two kilted guys) but the reporter just could not resist references to what's underneath... Why is there this fascination?

Very interesting video.

I would love to have a kilt in either (or both) of those tartans. The kilts looked like they were well taylored and both men looked very good in their kilt.

The part about what is (was) worn underneith the kilt was colorful, but totally inappropriate. Personally (and this is my humble opinion) was is or isn't worn under the kilt is nobody's business except the wearer. In this day and age - and fear of some over zealous kook causing trouble through lawsuit or violation of some modesty ordinance - I would choose to wear something under the kilt. Tradition be damned -so to speak - we don't need anyone having any kind of excuse for the kilt not to be worn.

I think it's just human nature.

If you keep your ears open, you'll notice that little kids are very curious about what people have on under their clothes. By adulthood, most people have (mostly) satisfied their curiousity about "normally dressed" people, but they haven't the opportunity to satisfy this "little kid" curiousity about men in kilts.

If men in kilts ever become common, I think you won't see so much discussion of "what do they wear under their kilts." (Some, but not so much.)

I can see myself now, sitting on a stool at the entrance to the New York Stock Exchange asking all the penguins what they're wearing under their black suits. Probably get at least 30 different brands of Jockey and Boxer shorts. Being as they all look alike on the outside, they probably look the same on the inside.

You should be careful, They can "book" you for sexual harassment, asking girls such a question. But it seems OK if asking a man.

I still regard the best answer (especially if there are a number of folk in the vicinity) is a rather loud, "WHY do you need to know?"

On topic, it would certainly seem to be desirable for (Joe Public) 'acceptance' purposes, for so-called 'district' tartans to spread more widely throughout England (wherever that is!). I'm sure a nice "Sherwood Tartan" in muted greens & a touch of browns would go down well in my part of the world! Especially, as the Kilt seems to have 'assumed' a Celtic conection, and the population of England has a rather higher proportion of folk of ethnic Celtic origin than either Wales, or, err, Scotland!!!!

I often use the term "F.T.H.O.I." when asked why I am wearing a kilt.

I don't have a ready answer, when they ask why I am not wearing a kilt (i.e. wearing trousers) sometimes.
