Hiking and Running
Interesting blog here on an outdoor travel site, in which a lady writer supports skirts for men for hiking and running:-

Re: Hiking and Running
This is where I came in. I got interested in skirts and kilts because of hiking, or more like it, long walks in the desert and forest. Much more comfortable.
It gives a man so much more freedom of movement, especially with mini skirts.

Sure does, right under Valerie. Mine's in beige just like yours, Valerie's is white, maybe you didn't look far enough down.

Ian and Skip-
I don't see your replies. I just added one of my own, and I see it there. Let's see if it disappears latter. Maybe the mod is removing them?

It's kind of odd. Now I can see my reply using Firefox but not using IE7. I can't see Skip's reply in either (and, before anyone asks, I have cleared my cache so I'm not looking at old copies of the page).
A copy of my reply is posted below.
Have fun,

I only just saw this entry, so please accept my apologies for the late reply.
I have been wearing kilts for several years now when out hiking, walking the dog and then more recently just running errands. Kilts are simply a more comfortable option than jeans or shorts.
You are bang on the money when you say “I bet you’d get more positive reactions than negative ones.” I have never had a single negative reaction, although the occasional sidelong glance or double take is to be expected
I have no Celtic blood in me and see no reason why that should preclude me wearing kilts any more than not being either a cow-hand or a prospector prevents me from wearing jeans. So if Musica would like to explain the reason for the comment above I’d be interested…
Whatever others think, I will continue to wear kilts and even (dare I say it) skirts that were made for women (gasp!!!) whenever it suits me, simply because I want to. My wife is happy about this and no one has ever mistaken me for a woman nor thought that I am trying to pretend to be a woman, at six foot three with a full beard, hairy legs etc it would be a difficult (and potentially painful) mistake to make.
It’s just a matter of personal freedom to do something that is good for me and does nobody else any harm.
Have fun,
Ian.

Re: Hiking and Running
I went to the site and copied the 4 responses there.. Here they are..no milfmog tho..
Christopher K said,in December 16th, 2008 at 11:15 am I would recommend not calling them skirts; Scotsmen wear kilts, maybe that would be a good thing to call them.
Musica said,in December 16th, 2008 at 11:33 am I think the idea of non-Scottish men wearing skirts or kilts is just crazy.
Valerie said,in December 16th, 2008 at 11:47 am I guess you're referring to the Spartan Utilikilt:
http://www.utilikilts.com/index.php?page_id=32
I haven't seen anyone wear them, but I think its a good idea. Women wear pants and other men's clothes because back in the 40's and 50's they challenged social convention. Society thought these women were trying to act like men, or that it was morally wrong to wear them. They were not allowed in schools, in churches or professional settings. Of course, nowadays, women can wear them anywhere. It is a freedom that women enjoy that men still cannot share.
I encourage all men to challenge social convention and wear whatever clothes they like. They can still maintain their masculinity and still wear a dress or skirt. If I was a man I would do it. I think it would be fun just to see the reaction from others. I bet you'd get more positive reactions than negative ones.
This is about freedom people. Its time for society to accept a greater tolerance for men in skirts. Free all men from the tyranny of trousers.
Since1982 said,in January 7th, 2009 at 11:55 am Sure, why not, looks like “Musica” is still living in the 40’s or 50’s. What’s so different about a Scotsman that it’s OK with Musica for a Scotsman to wear kilts OR/AND skirts but no other man is allowed? Does she think Scotsmen have male plumbing that is differently affected by the wearing of a kilt or a skirt?
Some people have the weirdest reasons for stopping other people from being comfortable with what they wear. I wear a skirt all the time. I’m 6′ tall, don’t own a horse or motorcycle or bicycle so have no need of wearing Bifurcated lower body covering. Birfurcated = two holes for two legs. M.U.G.s Male Unbifurcated Garments also known as skirts or kilts or sarongs, lavalavas, tupenas, kikoy, sulus, kains, caftans, djellabas, etc. are worn in 60% of the world’s countries and only the “stuck in the Victorian age” western countries are still trying to stick males in uncomfortable “penguin” suits.
Forget it. A MALE’S plumbing fits in a skirt or kilt far better than it does in sharp, raw edged crotches. Back when I wore trousers all the time and went to Bingo, I had to stand up 15 times a night to “shake out my bits” to be comfortable sitting. Now, in a skirt, I never get up unless I am screaming BINGO!! or getting a Coke or going to the Men’s Room. SAY YEA! for skirts and kilts etc. for men/males.

Ian and Skip-
I don't see your replies in any of the browsers I've tried (that's 8 of them!) I only see my own in one browser, Safari, which was the one I wrote the reply in (and I have cleared the cache in it). And I notice that on that page it says "3 users commented" even though my comment, the 4th on the page, is there. Very curious!
