Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

A quick Google brings up many different definitions, however the most relevant seems to be this.

I am not going to jump on anyone, just would like to say what I say many times - if a man does not try to pass for a woman whatever he wears is not a transvestite. Speaking with a deep voice, not wearing breast forms etc. Many women wear so called men's style clothes in a non feminine way -yes we have all seen them and there is nothing wrong with that. You know why-because they (females) do not put themselves in the frame of femininity and just try to feel good in what they wear.
An interesting article, espesially about the famous crossdressers from the past - not many men there hah - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossdresser
And there si one problem - women in so called men's clothes from the past are seen as heroes while men even nowadays are seen as wimps, gays, etc that is why,in my humble opinion, some of you desperately ask if they are masculine in a skirt. I am a man and I am masculine in whatever I wear. That is what I reckon.
My definition of "female" makeup = pancake, removed eyebrows replaced with higher "female" arched implanted eyebrows, botox filled cheeks, lips etc. Lips with extremely red lip gloss. A facial look very hard to confuse with a "male" look.
I've seen this look on male transvestites, crossdressers or drag queens in Las Vegas and it just doesn't look anything at all like a male look.
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Not to mention the alt-folk duo Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper who had sub-culture hit songs like Burn Down the Malls and Amsterdam Dogshit Blues. Used to see them at local clubs when I was in grad school in the eighties.

I'd like to think that I've got as much mojo as the next bloke, but I shoved my carcass into a pair of fishnet stockings today just to see what the result was and got one more memory I shall take to the grave with me -- Sapphire's expression when I showed up in my burgundy mini with that legwear on. I still can't put a label on the look, but it seemed to be a cross between our own "shock" smiley () and something infinitely more quizzical and seemingly troubled. I honestly don't know whether she was amused, horrified, shocked, or just plain gobsmacked.
On a practical note, fishnets don't seem to be all that functional. For one, my feet sweat (what bloke's don't?), so they didn't offer enough separation betwixt foot and shoe. It's interesting that a sub-millimetre of nylon works in that regard, but I guess it's a question of density. Too, the texture of them was damnably distracting; this might pass with time and experience, but was very apparent with an initial wearing. I suspect that if I'm to retry the experiment, I'll have tights on 'neath the fishnets....
And, no, don't even ask for pictures.

I've worn fine net pantys with a flower pattern on them... and thought that they would be cold, but they were quite warm ( in cold weather).
Do you remember the time that it was very normal for men to wear net tops?
Mostly in the summer season.
As with so many things, once you get used to seeing them they after a while are just as normal as the other things were before. Net and other exotic pantys are probably difficult for modt men to put on, not particularly for themselves, but because them being so nice to see, so attractive, they attract attention. And attracting attention is not what most men want. Especially if they are dress / skirt wearers. But if you don't mind getting maybe some extra attention, then it can be quite nice to wear not only your favourite jumper, skirt and shoes, but also some very nice leg clothing, why not? Your other clothing is carefully chosen, and I hope not just so bland as possiblt just not to attract any attention, but chosen with your / their own tastes / preferences in mind. So why not then finish it off with attractive leg wear?
Have you ever thought about the camou wearers, camou shirt, and camou skirt, what about matching camou tights?
This is not FEMME, but just daring to try on things that just like skirts, you first would never have worn, and now have learned to enjoy. And being able to dress up your legs, is something that we men are not used to do, but with wearing skirts, that is just another great possibility to "dress up"which dressed purely as a man, with bare legs in shorts, would not be done.
And so you realise the extent of the possibilities of personal creativeness and enjoyment that the step "out of the box" to skirt / dress wearing can give.
Of course, men taking off their pants, and then pulling on a skirt and changing nothing else at all enjoy skirt wearing too, and are happy with that, but those who look further, and are looking for more than that, have a world of extra expression possibilitys lying at their feet.

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.
