Skirts are for comfort, not about sex.
Just wished to say, after over 7 years military severice in several European countries, I know what you are saying about the following of North America's images -
Now for the enlighting part - here in North America "It's cool -- THEY DO IT IN EUROPE.
Anyone wish to check out what I mean, look into the Double Bladed Windsheild/screen, Sold in the US/Canada market as "USED ON EUROPEAN EMERGANCY VEHICLES" - Sold in Europe as "USED ON AMERICAN/CANADIAN EMERGANCY VEHILCES"
Advertising SETS our lifestyles.
It is a fact that European influance into other Non-North American countries was the form of seperation of Pants for men, Skirts for women.

Thanks for the places to get skirts, in fact this week my wife and I found really great deals and looks. I have one long skirt my wife just loves that I am going use as a formal deal with a Western Black Lightning shirt and my black "cowboy" boots.
I have to say to you all - LOVE this site and my wife thinks it is so great that we know alot more guys that want to feel great, sexy, and normal in skirts.

Hey, logo - I got an idea for a full clothing line just for true designed Mans skirts.
From my experiance - the label Warrior does not always draw the image you wish for. (Weekend Warrior, seen as a part-time weaker version of who it pretenteds to be).
As Skirt Warrior be careful, many may imagine a stalker type that hunts down women.

My thoughts to some things I have read
I have been reading some of the posts here and another site or two and I thought I would post some thoughts>
Men - please use discretion, short skirts need underwear. I am all for the "nothing under there" idea, however face it guys, we have a hanging problem. IF the skirt you wish to wear does not fold fully under your thigh area when sitting - WEAR underwear. Now, if you are wishing to be more "appealing" in your skirt (which I hope so, cause why do skirts if not for a little "appealing" affects, then the old tighty whities should be avoided. Look for some "fashionable" under garments, like at - undergear.com. Now, when at this site please remember, they cater to ALL males - including those with questionable preferances of "mates". SO, look for underwear with not so, girly style.
Guys, please - please High heels are really made for ladies - the leg shape of a woman is different and high heeled boots, shoes are formed to make the most of that differences.
Also, (noting only a few photos posted) pastel colors ONLY work for the girls! Enough said.
When shopping for skirts, this works best if you are wearing one out, go ahead ask the sales girl for a little help, they would LOVE to help dress you up - it is a girls favorite past time. My wife really loves checking out outfit styles for me. I think it goes back to childhood and playing dress up.
Well just a few thoughts for now, Thanks for this forum again.

Hi,
My hypothesis is that skirts enhance one's sexiness. A women looks more female, a man more masculine.
Of course, under supposition that the skirt matches the personality. And in this, we have still fewer degrees of freedom than ladies: pastel or gauze skirts don't work on men. But a kilt really turns women on, actually the first time my wife saw me I wore a dark green kilt. "That's a sexy man, I want him!", she thought to herself; and now we're 5 years married...
As posted above, ladies like men who dare to be different. Interestingly, then are most men so boringly conformant? Too afraid to try something else that might endanger their vulnerable ego?
Greetings,
Jan

Greetings,

Cool how you guys meet. My wife more or less got use to me in a wrap all day and because you can only get them in towel cloth she made me a few for summer. She did get a little wild on me at first and made a leopard spotted one, she made it so much fun trying it on I warmed up to it. Then out of fun we tried a skirt that was wrap like and wow it was great. She says I have great legs and have been told so by others when I wear shorts so now really like to show them off.
I have found in here though there are some guys that really need to rethink thier intent to wear skirts, or be examples for others to follow. That is one reason I made suggestions. Of which I wish to add. I just hope many people here find these and think out the points I make. We want the world to accept us in public skirtted well and not persieved as gay, so some rules really need to apply. I will make my nest post with an additional list.

Additional thoughts to mens skirt fashion, (remember please I get these thoughts from viewing posts and many pictures)
Make up, unless you have a skin problem that requries a cover up - Leave the make up to the ladies. Men in drag, tranvestities, gays and the like use ladies make up... It does not work on guys.
Painted nails - Ok if you are wanting nice looking nails then I suggest useing a clear enamel after grooming you nails to a reasonable masculine length. The colors and designs put way too much woman into your look.
Ear rings - IF YOU WON'T WEAR THEM IN JEANS - DO NOT wear them in a skirt. Hanging styles really need to be avoided. I know there are many places to get ear rings and many different styles, but So many are ladies ONLY.
In fact all these thoughts can be applied to one simple rule:
IF YOU WON'T WEAR THEM IN PANTS - DO NOT wear them in a skirt.
I had noticed former Drag Queens now wearing skirts in more masculine manners, thats cool but please leave the lady out of the look.
Just my thoughts, but I do hope they spark your sence to be accepted as a real male with fashion sence and for stalls public view as we are all gays.
I do have thougts of how to make male skirts and fashion more public appealing and affordable but unfortunately I am an average American with average income and the average bill to pay ratio so I guess I can not into that area and must sercume to the womans rack of "unisex" looking skirts.
When/If I can get a digital camera I will post picture, my wife and I have even been able to get an American Western look for me. I feel great in it.

I still get perplexed by the generally accepted perception that homosexuals (I never use the g*y word, unless they are "light-hearted, bright & cheerful"!) somehow automatically adopt/use 'feminine' make-up and wear 'feminine' ear-rings, high-heels, etc., etc. We know (or have known) quite a number of blokes who just happen to be homosexual. Apart from the odd one or two who display the occasional 'femme' mannerism, none have ever worn make-up (or dressed) anything like women. Apparently, it's a major 'turn-off' in their (more intimate) circles.

Don't 'knock' the idea of "unisex" looking skirts from 'the wrong side of the aisle'. Women raid the 'wrong side' with impunity, these days. I've certainly 'chastised' one of my female friends for 'cross-dressing'. What was she wearing? The ubiquitous 'denim skirt', zipped left-over-right, male fashion! Her retort? "Well, the blokes shouldn't leave 'em on the racks for us to pick up, should they?" Touche!

What "goes with" a skirt? Whatever *you* are.
Perhaps it's more of a, "If you don't wear such accessories as yourself, in your everyday life, don't wear them whilst skirted." That'd fit a bit more closely. For instance, I never wear jeans because I despise (1) the notion of "the uniform", (2) the fabric they're constructed from, and (3) the way the wretched things feel (I hated 'em as a kid, and I hated the pair that my wife bought me 18 years ago). My body chemistry also tends to dissolve cotton, so that particular fabric is right out as far as I'm concerned. I also don't wear makeup, nor do I have ear-piercings, and I don't varnish my nails (I bite 'em instead), but that's neither here nor there -- it's more about who the individual is; if the individual sports certain mannerisms whilst wearing tr*users, then it's absolutely acceptable for that individual to sport the same mannerisms whilst wearing a skirted garment.merlin wrote:Goodness! That's an absolutely deadly riposte, and bravo to your friend. Well done!merlin wrote:Don't 'knock' the idea of "unisex" looking skirts from 'the wrong side of the aisle'. That's been described, in lurid detail, by chaps who are in/have been in the business of designing/making/marketing mens' skirts several times. It's a bleak picture.merlin wrote:There's always the other sound reason to buy accordingly - the price.

I have been checking alot of these sites out. I can understand custom made carments are going to high priced. My question is - Why can anyone not make affordable male skirting that would be main stream styles, varied designs AND affordable?
I have been thinking of ways to make male skirted garments that could be a heck of alot cheaper then these internet stores are selling and possibly much more acceptable to the general public, possibly exploding the whole market so sooner then expected male skirts would be public fashion reality.
Unfortunately I am not a designer nor funded for such things.

Agreed - I prefer your (considered) alternative - just didn't want to use the "T" word, myself!crfriend wrote:Perhaps it's more of a, "If you don't wear such accessories as yourself, in your everyday life, don't wear them whilst skirted." That'd fit a bit more closely.
Wow! Someone else who had similar problems with Jeans! I only ever had two pair, way back in the mid 60's. One pair white(!), one conventional - both like wearing cardboard, lined with sandpaper!!!!! :shake:crfriend wrote:I never wear jeans because I despise (1) the notion of "the uniform", (2) the fabric they're constructed from, and (3) the way the wretched things feel.
Yep! She caught me totally cold! My (eventual) feeble reply? "Yeah! So when you're finished with it, you know where to send it!"crfriend wrote:That's an absolutely deadly riposte, and bravo to your friend. Well done!
I'm afraid so.crfriend wrote:That's been described, in lurid detail, by chaps who are in/have been in the business of designing/making/marketing mens' skirts several times. It's a bleak picture.

No. Correction. YOU want the world to accept YOU and not perceive you as gay. You cannot assume that you speak for other men who choose to wear skirts. We want the world to accept us in public skirtted well and not persieved as gay, so some rules really need to apply.
I don't care if the world accepts me or not - I will dress as I please. And I don't care whether anyone thinks I'm gay or not either.
One reason that I choose to wear a skirt sometimes is that I despise the set of current rules for male clothing that seems to be so deeply embedded within our society. So why should I now choose to abide by yet another set of rules that some other people deem to be "correct"?
It's never too late to have a happy childhood . . .
You seem to have a very narrow and prescribed viewpoint about what is, and is not, acceptable for men to wear. Evidently you see youself as the authoritative voice to tell us all what we should or should not be doing. Some of us here have been wearing skirts and similar items of mens fashion freedom for many years, and I think we have a fairly good understanding of what we are about.imadube wrote:Additional thoughts to mens skirt fashion, (remember please I get these thoughts from viewing posts and many pictures)

Basically we can (and do) wear whatever we like.
I have been wearing skirts and other unbifurcated garments in public for well over ten years.
I wear earings - studs, hoops, danglies as and when I feel like it.
I wear makeup from time to time. It is perfectly possible to use makeup expressively as a man without ending up looking like a drag queen.
I use nail polish sometimes, clear or coloured, usually the latter.
I like to wear a bit of perfume: CK-One is my favourite.
My skirts are all colours, not just drab uniform, dark colours. Some of them have flowers on.
In colder weather, I wear slips and tights (pantyhose) with my skirts, because I like the look and the the slip helps the skirt move better as well as being warmer.
As a semi-professional orchestral musician, I wear skirts on the concert platform.
As a research scientist, I wear skirts to my place of work.
When I got married, I wore a long purple dress. My wife wore a long corn-flower blue dress.
I have never had any bother or hassle in doing any of this. Occasional polite questions - yes. Condemnation, ridicule - no.
I am not gay, but that has nothing to do with mens' fashion freedom. Even if someone perceived me as being gay, it would not upset me; there is nothing wrong with being gay. I would just politely put them right if it became necessary to do so, but in over ten years the need has not arisen.
Your mileage may vary, but mine is quite OK, thank you very much. There is no mystery about all this; it's just known as 'being one's self'. While you might get your ideas from 'viewing posts and many pictures', I prefer to base my ideas on my real life and my interaction with the big wide world.
Incidentally, you might need to have your keyboard checked out; some of the letters appear to be in the wrong place.
