If someone else sees you who is on a similar wavelength, but can't bring himself to go out in a skirt, your example may prove to be all it needed to get one more person 'converted', or at least encouraged.
I've always felt that the best way to get something accepted is to simply go forth and do it (in this case, "wear it"), so long as it doesn't violate any rules of law. In this way, people will see the concept in action, carried out by someone confident enough in himself to do it, and will have their curiosities piqued by it.
Sapphire and I were out the other night at our local "establishment" and, as usual, I was wearing a skirt (black, calf-length, with my blue waistcoat, and lemon-yellow dress shirt). There was a promotion going on for "Coors Light" (a watery form of "near beer") and a local radio station, so the place was full of different people rather than the "regulars". I got chatted up because I was wearing a skirt (actually, Sapphire handled the chat as I was in a bit of a sullen mood and really wanted to be left alone having had a bad week at work). So, the more folks that see you, the more their expectations of what's "normal" may bend a bit.
