I disagree with those who think it is 'too girlie'
With all due respect, Steve, the whole point of this topic is that it is open
I'll get my placard and a pole and I write on it and walk down the street shouting
"FREE SPEECH" "FREE SPEECH, "FREE SPEECH"
now then that is two post for me today :D

No it isn't, Steve! It is purely my personal opinion - not open for discussion, even -otherwise I could be accused of answering the question posed, dishonestly. For example, someone might offer their opinion that Kilts should only be discussed on Scottish forums, and that's why they're not posting as often. Fair enough, at least the rest of us are left in no doubt what 'bugs' them.

I'm sure that most folks here are familiar with the commentary comparing personal opinions to a certain part of the anatomy, with the punch line, "Everybody has one, and they all stink!".

Having an opinion is perfectly fine -- in fact it's to be lauded -- but it's deceiving to state an opinion as a universal fact. Personally, I have quite a few opinions, and when I state them, I take full responsibility for them; I don't try to foist them as factual statements -- and I do so by using the active voice, stating to the effect of, "Well, I happen to think this ..."

Note, too, that it's perfectly acceptable -- and again laudable -- to "agree to disagree" on certain things. Opinions rank high in this regard as they vary widely from individual to individual, and are sometimes irreconcilable.

If this thread is going to turn into a mudslinging free-for-all, I'll just lock the thing down. Both parties have equally valid viewpoints; what I, as moderator, am interested in is decorum. To crib a line from Robocop, "Behave yourselves!"

For all who share thoughts like the fore mentioned, I give an easy solution, place many posts that are strictly manly ( serious posts ) so that the percentage of manly posts is far larger than the "other" posts. But thinking about that, if all members are a random cross section of the community, all being MANLY skirt wearers, thus the reason they are here and not on the other sites, then I may make the asumption that there are very many men who have finally come to see the true colour of their feelings, feelings which are more colourful than that of the more manly counterpart. And are so free, dare, to share them with others.

Others may find that a shock, but statistically speaking, with regards to the posts stating that it is found somewhat unpleasant, and being important enough to mention it, at the moment those ( the girly posters ((hate that word )) ) posters are the ones who are most active. Those mentioning it would do better not critisising the posters of the "girlie" if you like, posts, but critisising all the other members that they are not posting.
A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.

I think that's a great idea, Carl.

I've not commented. I can see easily where this thread is going and where it started. Looks to me like one bunch is trying to turn this site into the "Atrium East" and I won't be a part of it. I've seen this site go from a very democratic site to a "Don't say that" or Please don't say that". The only difference between those 2 sentences is one is sugar coated and the other is not. Doesn't change the FACT that both statements are attempted mind control. In my nearly 5 years here I've NEVER asked anyone not to speak their mind nor will I ever do so. The creator of this thread was the first person I've seen in my time here telling people what to say or what not to say. I think he started this thread just to get another big argument going. Looks like he succeeded. I do hope Carl shuts it down. :censored: :soapbox: :wall:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

OK, looks like it's time to lock this one down too.

Believe me, the way things have been going this week is NOT what SkirtCafe is about. I am preparing a post that should clarify the contentious issues. In the meantime, far too many people need to show a LOT more respect for others. Please ask yourself if YOU are part of the problem. If this disrespect continues after the upcoming clarification, Carl and I will do whatever it takes to get the respect issue back under control.
