Having lived in Darwin NT that is one place I would not were a skirt, but he was wearing a kilt, OK maybe a bit on the short side, but Aussies like to rib people and took it as a joke

Straightfairy, calling a man in a kilt in Scotland or at Highland Games in America "cute" might get your face reshaped. Maybe not in Australia tho...but, then again..maybe there too.

I am sure it is not that big of a deal but did anyone else notice the skirt he was wearing was a ladies mini-tartan skirt? To start off with the buckles were on the wrong side. I suspect that added to his reception. The whole piece was done as a joke, for which I had a good laugh also.
