At exactly 1:14 am November 1st, 1941, the world was blessed/cursed (depends on your point of view) with the entrance into this world of the member who was (unfortunately to some, didnt stay that way) born dead. I was the 7th child to my parents, all of which were born dead and some survived and some didn't. In the late 30's and early 40's they knew absolutely nothing about what blood types were compatible with other blood types. My Dad was A+ and my Mom was Orh- which popped out blue babies on a regular basis. Most died at birth or were born dead. I was lucky to be born dead and revived instead of dying at birth and staying that way.

They had, in this order, a girl, girl, boy, girl, girl, girl, boy (me) All the girls and the other boy died before age 7. 3 were stillborn and stayed that way. Those were a boy and 2 girls.

3 girls and one boy lived for some time, they died at age 1yr=girl, 2yrs=girl, 6yrs=girl, me, still here and just turned 68. wow.

I've always wondered if I'm a Saint, Nov.1 is All Saints Day in the Catholic Church, or a leftover from Halloween. I lean towards the "leftover" from Halloween. Go figger :D :D :D

So today is my birthday, and being alone, (which I hate) I went out yesterday and bought myself a "Happy Birthday Skip" cake and a Birthday present of a digital camera. Now I have to find some neighborhood kid to show me how to use it. It has instructions, but their above my head. :D :D :D

Many happy returns, Skip; from another November the first birth. I was a few years after you though and so qualify as a child of the sixties.

Get stuck in to the manual of that digicam if you want to know everything about it but I suspect you'll be OK just fiddling initially and learning the more advanced options later. I'm looking forward to seeing more illustrations of the ever present Skip Fraser here in the near future. As a matter of curiosity, what model did you buy?

Have fun,

Ian.

Happy birthday, Skip. Handshakes and hugs all the way 'round.

Cheers!

And when you get glum that you're another year older, recall that you likely don't feel any older today than you did yesterday; it didn't happen all in one go, and that with luck you've been enjoying the journey.

I'm all choked up.....TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTY my good friends. Sniffle sniffle...:::HONK!!:::

The camera is a GE A1050. My main problem is my eyes. I have coke bottle bottom reading glasses and I STILL can't read the tiny print in the guide. I can't even figure out how to connect the wrist strap to the camera..it says where it connects but I've not been able to connect it. It's small and has a telescoping lens. I hope it has a timer so I can set it and jump in front of it to take my own pics for you guys in some of my new skirts I've bought or sewn since my old Canon went belly up.

Carl...I feel 10 years older than I did yesterday. I know I should only feel a day older but....the imagination is a powerful tool. :thewave:

Well, I can't verify that this actually works, but, yes, the imagination is a powerful tool indeed, and here's something that might pick you up. It's Monty Python's "Galaxy Song" from The Meaning of Life. It seldom fails to make me feel better.

Of course if that fails, there's always (again) Monty Python's Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Life of Brian. That can be used to brighten up even the saddest occasions.
