Told my flatmates last night

Post by quackers »

I live in a shared house with 2 girls. Told 1 of them last week and the other one last night. And guess what - they were great with it. The exact words - you can wear what you want and good for you. It's good to see a bloke being original. They both agreed that blokes clothes are basically boring - they even offered some of their clothes.
So we shared a bottle or two of wine, sat on the sofa and watched a film - in practical clothing.

Interestinng aside - I rarely see them in skirts. One of them said she didn't have the confidence to wear them.

That's great news there, Quackers -- great news indeed. Your aside also points up that it's not just guys who may feel self-conscious when wearing skirts; depending on the length and style, it sometimes takes "intestinal fortitude" to wear something. I know that there are times when I'm not up do "dressing up" and times when I am, and I like the ability to choose skirts when I'm in the mood.

Congratulations on the acceptance!

Congrats! It's one thing to worry about strangers' reaction to seeing you in a skirt, something else when it comes to friends. It's their opinion or approval that matters to us most.

While a number of people have seen me in a skirt, there are friends who have not. I'm also not sure how my in-laws would react to seeing me attired in such a garment (they'd probably think I'm really gay or something.) It was only recently my wife told her mom that we had an open marriage, that I have a girlfriend. Adding skirts on top of this so soon may be too much to handle :D That said, I'd probably have no problem in a kilt.

Anyway, once the news is broken, you can give a big sigh of relief, knowing a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders. There are many levels of "coming out" of the closet, regardless of what type of closet you are in. Being free to express yourself in your own home has to be one of the first.
Be Bold. Be Skirted.

Yay, brilliant. Another good story which shows how true friends respect us all the more for having the balls to dress as we feel comfortable.
