Sapphire and I are heading out to dinner in a few minutes' time, and both of us, I suspect (in my case I know), have been troubling over what to wear. So, how does one know that a couple is at critical mass? It's when the wife asks, "Can I borrow your white slip?" and the husband answers, "I was looking for that, too. Do you know where it is?"

There's a reason I'm wearing a dark rig this evening instead of a light one.....

I'd originally wanted to go very light for a colour-scheme, and the intent was the cream-coloured silk skirt, a light shirt, a slightly off-white waistcoat, and a contrasting necktie. Unfortunately, the cream-coloured skirt looks positively naff with a dark slip under it, and everything else just fell down in a cascade. I wound up with a blue-green silk skirt, navy waistcoat, black shirt, my late father's pocket-watch as an accent, and a white-background London Underground tie. All was not lost, however, as I was adjudicated as looking good.

Oh, and Sapphire looked perfectly delectable at dinner. I do so love this woman!

For the curious....

I had on a black skirt with embroidery in silver and shades of blue, a blue chiffon blouse lined in satin, a multistrand silver necklace and black sandals. Hair up in a twist and held with a black barrette.

What I had planned was a turquoise, blue and black print on white handkerchief hemmed skirt with turquoise dressed up t-shirt and white sandals. Hmm. now that I'm thinking of it, once we get the slip thing figured out, I can wear a lapis, fresh water pearl and gold bead necklace.
